Nice to think that. But the fastest (top speed) American production car EVER made.........one you could walk into a Dodge, Chevy or Ford dealership and drive away with...........is the 2019 Corvette ZR-1.

The Ford GT was a whisker faster. But that's more of an exotic than a production car.

Fastest Muscle Car of 2021

The title of the Fastest Car of 2021 goes to the 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock.

Building upon the already crazy tech of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, the Super Stock is meant to dominate in speed. It has the same engine as the Redeye, but is cleaner and more innovative to give the Super Stock an additional 10mph in speed.

The biggest difference between the Hellcat and Super Stock are the wheels and tires. The Super Stock downsized and took on the wheel specs of the Dodge Demon — 18-inches to fit 315/40R18 Nitto NT05R drag radials.

But that’s pretty much the only difference. In fact, the wheel and tire setup is the only way to tell the Super Stock from the Redeye! It keeps the stealthy and sleek appearance, but hides horsepower under the hood that most have to see to believe.

So, how speedy is it? The 2021 Dodge Challenger Super Stock will go 0-60 mph in just 3.25 seconds, and cross the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds at 131 mph! That means it officially crossed the line as the fastest muscle car on the market, beating out the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500in a clean race.

None of them bought it with their PT $15/hr Burger King gig. That's for sure.

Been that fast in a 455 Trans Am. The broken yellow line looks solid at that speed.

I think y'all forget they had 17 stolen credit cards on them.....coworker had one stolen and the person bought a brand new jeep cherokee with it, he found out when a repo man showed up.

This happened just a couple exits up from my house. You dont speed or ride dirty in Monroe County, whatever the speed limit it, set it on cruise until you get out of there. Heck, our state trooper training facility is there, they get lots of practice in.

I can’t imagine 170 mph. Fastest I’ve ever driven was 140 mph on I-90 in a ‘71 Dodge Demon 340. My front end started to float and Dodges aren’t known for their handling. I found curves in I-90 I didn’t know existed.

170mph in a modern car is slower than 140 in a '71 Demon.😉

Love the old cars, they are cool and have character.

They were junk compared to modern, steering, suspension, and tires.

I would love to have that car back and upgrade it with all the suspension goods and a rack & pinion available today.

Unless they paid cash, they should have full coverage and hopefully gap insurance.

When you drive 169mph fleeing the cops I doubt insurance will cover your accident.

Got to about 150 in a ‘69 Camaro. Even though it was built as a bone fide drag racer, it was never designed for sustained speeds like that. My vette will get over that, but I’m just not interested in that on a public roadway. Here’s the results of a Ferrari on the Utah Fast Pass Open Run on hwy 257 in Utah. Just a little roll in the road and the Enzo ate it!
