I believe in browers book he said that the spur hammer was a no cost "target hammer" option that was available on request. Seldom seen option.

Nice. So, this is sounding rather like a desirable piece? Sounds as if I might be acquiring it...if it hasn't sold by the time I get in there!
Guys...tons of thanks to all of you! FIickr hasn't gotten back to me yet about my login issue. So, if I get time I think I'll try another image host, and see if I can get one or two pics posted.

That will do it. Now just put a at the end, and you'll have:
“ The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com

the pistol in question *does* have the "Savage" lettering on the frame. If I'm reading the book correctly...it's saying that it *shouldn't*? The serial number cutoffs listed in Bailey's book are a guide gathered from hundreds of pistols and factory documentation. There can be some overlap. #64xxB would indicate an early manufactured pistol of a later variation, 7000B-10000B. It looks like the load indicator is present so that's good. Doesn't appear to have holster wear on the grip logo. Blued finish is very hard to judge from pics. Yes it is shiny because it is either clean, like new or been polished. You'll have to judge that in hand.
