I'm semi-interested in one...can't really figure out why, but they look like they'd be fun to mess with. smirk

I'm not big on 30mm scopes on light rifles, but a VX-6 1-6x on a .308, the 18.7" barrel model would seem to be a versatile rifle.

I gotta say, they look like they would be a dandy rifle to shoot Tennessee pigs with. 'specially if a man loaded him some 180 grain RN bullets and shot the open sights.

I wish they would of made them 25 or so years ago. But then what fun would that have been.

The new synthetic stock versions are much lighter.

Hopefully, they will put the new synthetic on the 5.56 soon.

And fun they are. For years I've wanted a carbine that shot flatter than my .44Mag, .30-30, .375 win and .45-70 rifles and had iron sights my old eyes can actually use. The 18.7" barreled .308 Scout fills this bill quite nicely.

At the moment I have a 3-9x scope on it for load development but intend to go naked later on. The peep sight works well for ranges I would use this rifle and the 3- and 5-round synthetic mags are quieter, fit more snugly and are generally more comfortable to use than the steel 10-round mag.

No suppressor yet but that, too is planned for the future.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.

A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

No irons, but very fast.

I haven't handled one but a pard has one and likes it. He's mostly shooting it with open sights at steel.

I haven't shot mine yet. Although yesterday I loaded 40 rounds, 150 grain Ballistic Tip, 45 grains of RL 15 and CCI 200 primers.

So how does that load sound to you 308 shooters. I haven't loaded many of them over the years.

If those are like the RP I've loaded over the last decade or so you should be OK, still some headroom left.

The design makes it slower for EVERYTHING...you don't move an ocular further away to increase "speed". Hint................
