Was a Leupold fanboy from 1978 79 to 2017.

Now I'm the posterchild for Sightron SII 3-9x42 scopes.

They adjust per stated value.
Track correctly
And hold zero.

Unlike the chase zero game with leupold,s scopes trying to find the magic adjustment spot....
IME.....
Ymmv....

Renegade:

Some sharp looking rigs you have.

I still have a couple SII 3-9x42 in the safe as well. My favorite Sightron is a 6x. Very bright in low light and overall a great view. Scope is tough, too - survived several accidental drops that left a few dents but didn't move poi. Duplex is fairly wide, and with a 300yd zero, the duplex intersection would get the 300 WM I had it on to 450 or so.

Very nice renegade. I recently depleted my scope fund, or I would have tried one of the Sightrons Doug has offered. Looks like a damn good deal on these scopes. I can't believe the discount on some of these models.. That Sightron SII 3-9x42 is one I've always wondered about. I'll eventually buy one..

All my hunting is oak ridges or hardwood bottoms.
150 to 200 yds thru timber would be a very very long shot and a infrequent occurrence.

Zero dead on at 100.
Most shots well under 50 to 75 yds.
Even less most times.
Keep power on 3x
Same sight picture to my mind on all my scoped long guns.

A Sightron in 4x42 would be awesome.
The 6x42,s are nice scopes.

River Rider IIRC from Texas had a couple for sale about a month or 2 ago.
Was tempted to buy a spare myself.

Alot of people bought em on here from Sierra ???
3 or 4 years ago.
Discontinued model.
Along with many others in the old SII and SIII big sky lineup.

They can be found surfing on the web.

3 of mine were bought from members on here.
4th was found from some obscure mom and pop shop up in Wisconsin on the web.

Had a SI 3-9x40 long ago on daughters 20 ga USH shooting 410 gr discarding sabot hastings slugs
350 gr projectile
Put the dope for 250 gr SST,s on it for her when she deer hunted with me.

With those hastings slugs for me.
It was probably the hardest recoiling long I have shot.
3 yrs
Never lost zero using each load and putting the dope back on between either.

Shoulda never sold that gun actually.....
Oh well my savage 220 is waaaay better......

I bet that could make a scope like the vortex razor 4.5-22 that would hold zero. Do t know why they haven’t.

I used the 6x mostly for Western hunting. Closer to home we typically hunt second or third growth timber. Like you, 100 yds would be long in most areas. Wide fov and highly visible reticle are most important, not high X. But I still carry a longer range rig at times for sitting clear cuts, beaver meadows, power lines, bog swamps, etc.

Just a heads up, the instant rebates run through tomorrow, Saturday April 30th. Don't miss out on these great opportunities.
