If the embedded Republicrats in DC don't immediately start impeachment hearings after November, we should start primarying every single one of the them. What's the Washington DC equivalent of the Bastille? We need to know where to set up the guillotine! Probably the best option would be for concerned citizens to run for office themselves, ala Donald. If you are fed up enough with the same old, same old.....Do something about it and run for office. Nothing is going to change until the people get fed up. It's time to rid ourselves of the current political class and enact term limits. Personally, I don't see the Republicans as being a whole lot better than the Democrats - marginally better, but not leaps and bounds. Get some real choices back into the selection process.....

We had 40mpg vehicles 40 years ago. Remember the Volkswagen rabbit? But, now, with ethanol, catalytic converters, and computers set up to limit mileage, tougher diesel emission standards, and lots of other great democrat ideas, 40 is a lot tougher to get to…..

I had a VW Rabbit with the diesel engine. 40MPG was routine. Does VW still make the Jetta with the turbo diesel?

They can just make a 3 mile downhill test track, coast the SOBs and give the government a ride on the middle finger

US-93 from Lost Trail Pass south about 15 miles to North Fork, Idaho. 2009 Dodge 3500 Cummins would get 109 mpg on the meter on the way down and 15 mpg on the climb up. 109 + 15 = 124. Divide by 2 for average of round trip, = 62 mpg!!!

On long commutes they both claim 50+ and hand calculated at that. They bought them right after VW got busted for having the computer run the car different during emissions testing than during driving. Best if both works. Screwed emissions testing and still get amazing miles. At some point physics takes over and a required fleet mileage is not possible. Like somebody above said, going from 28 to 40 is a quantum leap forward and certainly not possible in just a few years, if ever.

The guys I've talked to that have deleted their diesel pickup claim they improve mileage 10-15%. EV's are rated in MPG-E (MPG Equivalent). The Ford Lightning pickup is rated 68 MPG-E.

Anybody that thinks all of our great leaders aren’t in the pocket of the oil industry has been drinking MSM kool aid. While playing at limiting infrastructure and drilling, they’ve been making sure that any technology to substantially increase mileage over the years has been buried or outlawed.

I had a 1982 Volkswagen Rabbit diesel. 50+ MPG was not uncommon for that beast.

The EPA rating has gotten tougher to reflect actual conditions. Plus, remember that we drove 55 mph, vs. 80 now. That's a 30% increase in fuel consumption right there.

I knew a guy in the 80s who took a month long driving tour of the USA in a Rabbit diesel, with the wife and kids. He came back saying 51 MPG was his overall result.

I sold a Tempo diesel to a friend of mine back in circa '85... He took the wife and kids on a vacation from here to Canada somewhere... The kids asked how far they were gonna go for the day? Jim said he would stop for the night when they needed fuel.. I nearly died laughing when he said they were still driving when it was totally dark outside and they STILL had decent fuel in the tank.. Told me he'd never do that again... I know the ex-wife went from St. Paul to Thunder Bay and back before she had to fuel up... Topaz diesel.. And she sold it for a premium to a minister from the Twin Chitties..
