Pretty much anywhere here along Black river after July. Rice fields where it is open and most of the woods are swamp.

I can’t remember for sure but I think it was the Lewis and Clark expedition that moved their camp away from the river because the mosquitoes were so bad. The confluence area has lots of rich history. Hugh Glass being killed by wagon burners, sitting bull surrender..lift bridges on the Missouri and yellow stone rivers.

Try working in a petrochemical plant sitting on the Texas Gulf Coast. Skeeters are drawn to hydrocarbons for some reason.

For me, the worst was No. Canada on a fly in fishing trip.
I lived in Minnesota at the time and thought we had skeeters. Paled by comparison. Fishing was great but the skeets made that trip pretty miserable.

Minnesota after a cold summer rain.

Jokes about big skeeters are funny, but mostly, a lot of the hungry bugs is the thing.
