Most of those, at those prices, look like a damn good investment to me. How much do you think they would sell for in today's market? One thing about it, most people who shoot the m96 variants fall in love with them and the 6.5x55 cartridge. They are extremely accurate and easy to shoot.

Just found a Swedish Mauser bayonet and frog I knew I had somewhere. I'll offer it up here before posting it in classified. PM me if anyone is interested.

The 38s have been going fast off gunbroker for the past few months for a lot more than they used to. I saw a couple go for over a grand and one for $1125. I was hoping to get one for no more than $800 and kept getting outbid. Finally lucked out and got one on a Sunday at 5pm for a starting bid of $800 that no one else bid on. Started not to bid on it but the seller had a lot of A+ ratings with positive reference remarks and would take a personal check so no credit card fee. It turned out to be better than the photos, 1942 Husqvarna with matching #s original sling, VG bluing & stock, bright bore with sharp rifling and crown.
Never thought I'd pay $800 for one of these and say I lucked out.

Welcome to the Swede club! This is my favorite caliber for Montana's mountain hunts where forest meets parks, most shots under 200 yds.

Regarding the basic barreled action and excluding stock or sight comparisons, my understanding is that the M96 converted to M38 specs was basically a rather simple conversion where the most dramatic alteration was the barrel being cut to shorter length; it retained the straight, horizontal bolt handle and for those whom this is important, the original Swede's superior external finish was left unblemished. The 'pure' M38 was made under the same or equivalent metallurgy requirements to the same exacting fit specifications but with the 'bent' bolt handle and less emphasis on the external finish.
