Another option if you want to keep the detachable magazine on your Hunter model is to have the stock hydro dipped. Cost is generally well under $200 to do so.

Top stock was purchased from MCMXI here on 24 (6.5CM). The lower one (7mm/08) I had dipped by Stealth Hydrographic in Montana. The extended bolt handles are from Chris84, also here on 24. These are easily the handiest rifles I own and I'd buy one in .223 in a heartbeat if they ever produce them.

Called kimber today and they won’t sell me a stock alone but would put one in my hunter for small fee of around $600.

I’d be into my hunter for $1200

That sounds about right. Kimber is one of the most irritating companies I've ever dealt with for customer service. Between my experiences and those of a couple friends with their kimbers, I'd be hesitant to purchase anything from them ever again.

Sad bc my hunter shoots really well! I just hate the damn stock and all aftermarket options basically price you into a montana and I struggle giving up a good shoot kimber for one I have never shot

While I've never owned a Montana, I don't particularly want to own another blind magazine rifle.
I had a Rem 700 ADL that I converted to a BDL and after market stock many years ago.

The detachable magazine on the Hunter is really pretty good. It sure is handy for those situations where you need to have an unloaded rifle ( where not legal to be mag loaded in a car/quad or whatever ) and for range use and teaching newbies/kids..etc.

The Creedmoor (R) has plenty of room for reloaders to chase lands and not be confined - while my 7/08 (L) will have to be held to factory specs, for the most part.

Unless I'm totally missing something here, the Hunter stocks are plenty stiff and can be made even stiffer with a little epoxy in the honeycombed fore end.... if the stock just doesn't fit you or simply don't like it, well... that's an issue you'll need to solve for yourself.

It’s really just personal preference. I don’t dislike it enough to move on from the gun or anything.

Gave it a fresh paint job and may stiffen it up a bit.

Solid budget rifle for me. Glad I bought it on sale and got a deal on it

Yes. I am not saying its off the table forever but I think for a bit more money you could go with the microlight from MPI and be lighter if that was the end goal.
Still tinkering with my hunter a bit. It shoots good and should have some added grip on the stock with new paint job. How slick it was bothered me initially but still shot it fine.
