I have 5 cows left to calve. Three of them should have already had a calf, or so I thought. No problems so far.........knock on wood. But these are middle age cows, and none of them has ever had calving problems.

I'm done. Came home at noon 2 couple weeks ago on Wed at lunchtime and CB (crazy b!!ch) had had her baby. Got up the next morning Winnie the Moo had hers and we were done. Can you tell the grandkids named one and their dad named the other?

Hoping for a few lambs at the end of May, if Fred the Ram is/was still working.

My hay guy raises some beeves. He had 2 on the ground and 6 more expected today.

5 new calves yesterday, and 1 so far today.

Anyone have trouble buying ear tags?

Talked to my nephew yesterday eve and he has taken over operations on the family farm cow/calf operations. Said he's got 11 more to go of 96. Only lost two this year, so far.

Was busy this morning, 11 more calves on the ground and that wraps it up. Lost one out of 78.

Yeah, that is good.

Knock on wood we might be ahead on the cows, picked up a couple little bum calves that I assume were twins that nursed at birth and were then rejected.

Bottle calf is $400.

Haven't found any dead calves or scrap piles so far this year.

But we did lose 3 calves and a heifer while calving out bred heifers. Just a run of bad luck there, pulled a couple dead calves. Big damn calves in the middle of the night. But I guess we pulled a few more live ones so can't whine too much.

Couple days ago.

Notice the open cow right out front with the hair rubbed off her ass. Light belly, no bag...

Check to see if one is a heifer calf.

Had a neighbor's cow that had twins a couple years ago. One was a bull calf, and mama took it fine, but kicked off the heifer. They raised it anyway.

I told them the heifer would be sterile, but they kept it anyway. (Freemartin) His wife wouldn't sell a calf she'd bottle raised.... LOL.

Yeah, they are that type of "rancher"... laugh
