I have 5 cows left to calve. Three of them should have already had a calf, or so I thought. No problems so far.........knock on wood. But these are middle age cows, and none of them has ever had calving problems.
I'm done. Came home at noon 2 couple weeks ago on Wed at lunchtime and CB (crazy b!!ch) had had her baby. Got up the next morning Winnie the Moo had hers and we were done. Can you tell the grandkids named one and their dad named the other?

Talked to my nephew yesterday eve and he has taken over operations on the family farm cow/calf operations. Said he's got 11 more to go of 96. Only lost two this year, so far.
Laws aren't preventative measures. In other words, more laws won't prevent gun crime from happening.
Knock on wood we might be ahead on the cows, picked up a couple little bum calves that I assume were twins that nursed at birth and were then rejected.
Bottle calf is $400.
Haven't found any dead calves or scrap piles so far this year.
But we did lose 3 calves and a heifer while calving out bred heifers. Just a run of bad luck there, pulled a couple dead calves. Big damn calves in the middle of the night. But I guess we pulled a few more live ones so can't whine too much.
