And if we're talking where you "buy the jug" and fill it up in store from their filter system - plastic comes from oil. Notice what oil's been doing lately - cost wise?

Shipping empty jugs is damn inefficient too - you fill the truck long before you run out of weight so you end up sending more trucks than you might of some other commodity. Again at a 55-56% rate premium over the last 2 years due to the shift in buying by the American consumer since CV19 started.

They have 51 brands worldwide but I don't know how many were specific to the NA market which is the piece they sold off.

I suspect the Kirkland/Great Value brands - done by Nestle on a contract basis. So much of that stuff is. Especially (I'm learning) coffee.

Got a little shock last week, friend of 40 years called with a half a beef, cut and wrapped. Me, How much? Him, You ain't gonna like it. Me, C'mon, I been buying your beef for 20 years, it's top quality, how much? Him, Well I gotta get 5 bucks. Me, Holy [bleep], ....stammer, stutter....uh, I think the freezer is full anyway, no room. Him, Ok, I can find a home for it. That's where we left it, I am pretty sure last Sept he charged 3.40 plus .75 for cut and wrap so, probably paid 4.05 ish. What are you guys paying?

and there is that pesky inflation, caused by dumping trillions of magic dollars into the money supply. That alone screwed the economy. The snowball of crap is just starting to roll downhill.

I've never bought 1/2 a beef. No idea. I buy the occasional cut steak (strip or porterhouse) but 99.5% of my red meat had fur I poked a hole into.

I paid $7/lb last spring for 1/4. Grass fed, "organic" , grazed behind our place and on the neighbors ranch (he holds the allotment behind us). 1/4 is all we needed and could fit in the little freezer. We're still eating on it. I did it because I like knowing where my food comes from, they're great folks, and they are just getting into selling locally. Figured I'd help them out some.

That what they are here. That’s not shopping around, but in general, they are high. Off brands may be cheaper.

Makes me glad we put a couple of elk in the freezer last year. Especially since I didn't draw schit this year.
