Yes you can. I inadvertently did it. One of the guys at our hunting club was shooting his 204 the same day I was shooting my 40-X, 222 Mag. One case felt different in resizing and when I looked at it I saw the headstamp. I took some measurements, chambered the sized but empty case and it closed with very slight effort.
So I loaded it with a starting load and tried it. No problem.
SPS had some 222 Mag cases a couple of days ago. Don’t know if they still have it.

Most shooters prefer the brass head stamp to match the rifle
222 mag brass is not that uncommon

Dick 204 Ruger is based off 222 REM mag, just necked down. Most shooters prefer the brass head stamp to match the rifle

Pro Shop as mentioned......or place a WTB ad here Don’t own a 204 it’s not a big deal. I have 20 once fired Nosler 7-08 that were left at the club and since I don’t have a 7-08 it’s now 243. No big deal. Neck up or neck down isn’t hard. If you buy a 204 just neck down the brass.

The 204 is actually an improved version of the 222 RM with the shoulder changed to 30 degrees and moved forward, plus the body is slightly straightened. So there is a little more to it than necking up but shouldn't be a problem with a little Imperial sizing wax, you might have to anneal also. I have a little experience with the 204 case having wildcatted it since brass became available in 2004. I started to build a 257 Kimber 222 Rem Mag Improved necked to .257 when I found the 204 Ruger case was pretty much a 20cal clone of the 257 case. I ended up building rifles in 22-204, 6mm-204 and 25-204. Center 222 RM the next two to the right are 22-204's so you can see the difference in the bodies of the 222 RM and 204 Ruger Sorry I couldn't post the image. Here's a link to the page it is on, halfway down the page. https://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/22-204-test-loads.3997886/page-2

If you run case B or C through a 222 Magnum FL resizing die, it will produce case A.

Is there really any 204 Ruger Brass that is much better quality of the older Remington 222 Rem Mag brass that make re-forming it worth it?
