I found this a while back and thought it would be fun to let you guys pick it apart. The bore and chamber are in very good condition. I'll post some good pictures. Let me know what I have and what you think it's worth. Thanks guys!!

Pre 64 06 barrel.
Value, IDK. I guess it would depend on how bad someone wanted it.
As my 81 yo dad would say, "it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it".

Indexing it to an action would almost certainly require some whittlin' on it or the face of the action.

Guessing barrel was shortened and sights reinstalled. IIRC many/most pre 64 barrels index on other pre 64 actions without mods.

Yeah it was cut off and a later ramp reattached. A nice job, but not perfect. I think a 53 dated ramp would be stippled.

That's what I'm thinking too guys. I thought it was different at 22 inches, but not a short rifle barrel. Whoever re soldered the ramp on did a very good job. It looks factory to me. I wish I would have asked my smith friend about it when I was in Oregon. As far as stippling, sbrmike is correct. It should have been stippled. The ramp on this barrel appears to be one from 1955-'57. Termed #6 ramp, according to Rule. It is roughly 2 3/8" long and has 14 striations. I thought this barrel would be a good one for someone wanting to re bore or rechamber to a bigger caliber or cartridge, like a 35 Whelen or even a 358 Norma. It would be shorter and handier and also have more meat than a FWT barrel. Damn, beretzs here was talking about wanting to build a 35 Whelen... This may be a good barrel for that?

There is a rear sight boss on the barrel.

Good point. My smith told me that a few times. I've also heard the same thing from other Winchester guys.
