It is hard to beat a draft A&W root beer. The canned stuff just isn't the same...

A&Root. I know it suffers from not having the panache of being an obscure regional offering, but it is still good.

I didn't know that it still existed! The first pop I ever had out of a can was Shasta. Pop from a can was new back then and it seemed so much cooler than pop in a bottle. I bugged the shirt out of Mom until she gave in and bought some.

I was at a pizza place last week that had bottles from a company in Wisconsin. It was really good.
I'll have to check next time I am there. I was with a group of people and they cleaned the place out.

When I was a kid there was a root beer shop on main street, operated only during the summer months by a couple of school teachers who made their own draft root beer and sold no other soft drinks of any kind. Actually, I think they sold little if anything else (it was a long time ago.) A big, frosty mug was a nickel.

Frosty Root Beer is what we used to drink as a kid. It was awesome. I'm not sure it's even made any more.
