The South Koreans make some great action films, both historical and modern-day.
THE GREAT BATTLE
A HARD DAY
THE WAR OF THE ARROWS
THE MAN FROM NOWHERE
NO TEARS FOR THE DEAD
ASSASSINATION
PIRATES
THE GRAND HEIST
THE SUSPECT
THE ADMIRAL
THE AGE OF BLOOD (don’t let the brief animation at the beginning throw you off)
All highly recommended.
Thanks. I pulled all these up and saved them to watch later, with the exception of Pirates, I couldn't find that one. The South Koreans have made some great stuff. The series Vincenzo was a great watch.
Not sure it matters, but it’s THE PIRATES, not just PIRATES. My mistake.
The Detective K series, three films, are worth watching too. Pretty funny as well as lots of chases…
Where are you picking up the Korean movies?
Slaves get what they need. Free men get what they want.
I’m subscribed to Viki Rakuten. Have the app on my iPad and Amazon Prime. A lot of those may be available on YouTube as well, and there are other Asian online sites too, but Viki keeps track of your episodes and viewing history, plus has lots of tv shows from Korea, China, Taiwan, and Japan, all subtitled. Subtitling on YouTube is a sometime thing, as are complete series. Viki is about $90-$100 a year.
Funny, but my wife often gets to watch current shows from China on YouTube for free, before my stepdaughter can see them on pay tv in China.
If you like the classics, Prime recently added Ivanhoe as a 6 part series. It's over 20 years old but it follows the book closer than most movies do.
In keeping with the English classics, I like Midsomer Murders, also on Prime. If you're not familiar with the English style, it can take a while to get into them. They get a lot deeper with more mystery than the usual American blood and guts cop shows.
