So sad to hear. I was born and raised in South Texas. This hurts as bad as other similar events that have happened in the great state of Texas. This is a plague and scourge of this present age. I believe kids should at least have access to farm life where we learn how valuable life is.

It's been years but I would pass through Uvalde occasionally. As a former SRO at a metro high school this is just my observation. The children of America have been passed around like political pawns. More so since Covid. One day they were in school and the next they were out. This uncertainty has been hard on kids. Even more so with kids who have mental health issues. While the kids are out of school just who is monitoring them ? If that person detects some mental health issues in the child, just who is supposed to do something about it ? How much time did they spend alone or with a computer as their baby sitter ?

O'Connor vs Donaldson has tied the hands of community leaders, State legislatures, parents and judges about forcing mentally ill persons to get MANDATED mental help. The school aged kids have become the political toys of the leftist Covid power brokers. I expect more of this. I would suggest that 1 out of every 500 kids has a major mental health issue and they are on the verge of a complete break down. I understand this kid shot his grandmother first before going to the school. That level of determination is off the charts. We had 2 17 year olds murder a teacher 2 months ago in Iowa. They didn't like her because she expected them to work for success in her class. They found her in park while she was taking a walk and beat her to death. O'Connor vs Donaldson was also one of those over reaching decisions from the Earl Warren court.

I truly blame the federal department of education of kowtowing to the leftist educational philosophy that all kids are in need of assistance when in reality all kids need accountability for their behavior and their parents also need to be held accountable as well. Why was this kid in a position to shoot his grandmother first ? Where were his parents and did they participate in his education both in school and out of school ? Did they seek help for any emerging mental health issues as well ?

I guess we will find out soon enough.

I hunted deer and Russian wild hogs on the Morning Star Ranch outside of Uvalde Texas. I killed my first spike buck whitetail deer on that place. I'm not sure if that ranch is still in operation. They were friends of my parents.
