The biggest human threats to Christianity are from within. I agree that the church continues to hemorrhage members, and to not attract new members. They've likely lost focus on what kind of message it takes to connect with unchurched people nowadays, and to stay connected with dechurched people nowadays. Church leaders are losing the conversation; they’re often not even in the conversation anymore. When the current conversation is making less of a difference every day, maybe they oughta change the conversation.
Every day on this side of the ground is a win.

Maybe families need to pick a genuine small town church with a devoted group of leaders from deacons, elders, and minister. These type churches are made up of families as well as the leaders. They offer support, understanding, and wisdom. A close, bound congregation such as this offers everything the big, commercial, name brand, generic enterprises cannot possibly offer. Families need to go to church and participate as families and as part of a congregation.

His brother in law is a Plumber. I worked with him at TD Mechanical in the late eighties. He is head of maintenance at the church now!

The church we attend in liberal Columbia MO, is not a "mega=church" and is a church that preaches the truth of the gospel. No ear tickling here. We actually hear the word "sin" regularly in the message. My wife and I are thrilled and encouraged by the number of young people who regularly attend. Both students from the local colleges (Mizzou and two smaller colleges), and many young couples and younger singles in the community. We have 3 services every Sunday with an average of around 1400/1500 per week total which usually fills the pews about 80%

Sundays are for Lee Marvin, ice cream, drinking beer, mouthing off to someone over the way they make chili, salmon fishing, riding RZRs on the mountains, taking the boat out, being hungover from boot scootin night before. Ya know….all that stuff that “Out West” people do Church is for people are willing to step foot into a walmart and buy stuff from Amazon Have I mocked enough Sunday campfire ne'er-do-wells yet? 👨🏼🦳

Joel’s stated belief is that all good people go to heaven and that trusting in Jesus Christ for your salvation is not necessary for salvation. Joel is a heretic and to be avoided.
