How many of you gentlemen here have tried or are using these new metal or carbon fiber minimalist wallets? My son has been using one for awhile now and acts like he really likes it. I’m bad about changing my ways and been using the good ol leather billfolds since I was probably 12yrs old or so. I kinda like the minimalist approach … just not sure I want to give up on the old way? Haha! Any input from you fellas is always interesting! Lol

I've barely got $125 to put IN my wallet, much less to waste FOR a trendy metal wallet.

Yeah I kinda thought that myself until I start thinking about how many times in my life I’ve already had to replace my leather ones. I think there are cheaper versions and you can also catch them on sale as well.

There are definitely cheaper versions.
Daughter (while in college, so couldn't have been too much) got me one.
All I can tell you is it has "ARW" on the clip.
Got really hating old style bill folded. They become the "Costanza" real quick.
Now I only carry what I need and use. In the front pocket too.

My latest wallet is extremely minimalist. It is made of a cork fabric that looks like it would last a week. It only has room for essential cards and the slots hold whatever can fit the card slots. After many months, it's still holding up well. It's a lot different than my calf skin wallets, but I'm not as tempted to overstuff it.
I got it here...James 1:17

I like it.

Rufus,
That looks pretty good. Simple, functional design. How do you like it?

I keep it pretty stuffed with cards, and fold some cash up under the cord outside, though have considered going back to a money clip for that to save one fold lol. Had it for a year and a half and it's not showing any real wear yet.

I've had one of these for several years. I didn't pay that much for it, but if I need another I won't hesitate to pay that much. These are great to carry in your front pocket and forces me to reduce to only the essentials.

I bought my son one like in the OP, just different company and made of carbon fiber. He's 15 and seems to like it just fine. I'd have a hard time as I carry way too much crap in my wallet, but do like the functional aspect of it.
The company I got mine from Moutain Voyage also makes them out of wood. IMO, darn good looking! And IIRC the wood one's carry a lifetime warranty.

Think I paid 35.00 for mine it blocks scans of credit cards by thieves... leaves room for an extra magazine in a pocket too.

I have a leather version of a wallet like that. I love it, but it was hand made by a guy we use to make leather goods for our store. I think it was $50 and it’ll last longer than that one.

Ricky,
The wallet you posted looks like a top of the line item that would last a lifetime. One practical feature is the ability to block readers. The only ones I've seen locally are the bulky aluminum clam shell cases. It would be nice to go with something like the one in your post, but those are pricey. I'd like to test mylar sleeves to see if they work and fabricate one with a leather wallet.

I’d like to know how leather could outlive a carbon fiber or titanium? Especially when used on a daily basis. I just don’t see it.
