Figured it was the new Raptor R Model.

I’d buy one in a heartbeat. If I hit the $830 MILLION Mega Million Jackpot tonight. 😜

How much does that govt mandated crap cost? Airbags, emissions, engines that run on ethanol or biodiesel?

You take the govt regulation crap off, I bet it'd cost $10k less.

The idiot government mandated stuff runs about 5k now (that's also the difference in prices for cars from other countries to the US) it used to be 10 but improvements in production have apparently driven that down by half.

Demand is the main price driver now. People who only care about the payment have allowed manufacturers/dealers to charge an insane premium on trucks and full sized SUVs in this country. We're also the only country in the world where 0 interest on a vehicle loan is a thing. Fools are willing to pay a massive premium on the price so they make all their money (and more) without needing to charge interest. The fools think it's a good rate - LMAO - some even brag about it. They shut that ignorant sheet right up when I show them prices in the rest of the world. All the "your money would serve you better in whatever investment or bank you have it in" fools gag a little when they realize they could have started off with an extra 30 grand in those investments/banks.

When supply is there and gas prices stay up, truck prices plummet as we saw in Obama's terms. With the government mandated covid shutdowns we saw the supply dry right up so the demand will probably stay high in this country if I had to guess. Part of the fun of living in a very rich and very poorly educated country I suppose.

Glad I bought mine with 13K miles in late 2019. Even had some negotiation room then. Remember those days?

You forget that people bitched when they were selling new for $4,000.00. New trucks will never be cheap enough, but somehow, they all get sold…

I bought my Tundra 2020 during the first month of the pandemic panic shut downs….

They couldn’t test drive cars, but some were still on the lots - I had to search for my truck and get one from 3 states away.

I got almost 15k off…. Because of the panic pricing.

It’s still worth more than I paid 2 years later…. I paid 38k for a Limited 4x4 - it’s worth 44k today..

V8 all the way.

THere were several ford dealers offering 2% off invoice pricing on new F250 and F150 orders. You just had to put down a $1,000 and wait for the build. That is how I bought mine and ended up being something like $7,500 off MSRP. It was built in June and so far ford has not managed to get it shipped to Iowa in 5 weeks time. And sounds like it will be another 5 weeks or so. Such are the times.

That was a great time to buy. Missed out on the 0% financing on Tacomas that year. Helluva deal looking back.

I have an approx. 5 acre place coming up in the market you couldn’t even make a down payment on the place with that! 😉 (only thing I’ve determined Elon Musk is good for. Running up price of local real estate).

From the guy who suggested a 4yr old truck.....

I bought my 16' F150 with 40K miles on it for 25K in 2020 (just before Covid1984). Thats with my traded in 04' Titan that wasn't worth the tires it was siting on.

Resale isn't really a consideration for me as I don't trade in every 4 yrs, I use them up.

I looked through my glovebox Monday, took the window sticker out and read over it. 1998 F-150 Lariat, short wheel-base, step-side, 5.4, factory towing package >$26,303.oo. Of course I didn't pay full price but that was pretty expensive for a 2wd truck way back then.

I'll never again step foot in another new car dealership, no way am I paying 50-60-70K for a truck

This town is loaded with top of the line trucks/suv's/cars - >just saying.

Got two older diesel trucks that I just spent $900 in batteries for. Ram recommended some kind of mat batteries and I put top of the line batteries in my F350. Parts are high to keep a old truck going. New trucks are really nice, if you want one buy it.

Buddy of mine ordered a 2022 F350 XLT with the 7.3 gas engine in 12/21. He just got it on Wednsday last week.

If you wait longer it will either get better or worse.

I'd bet 90% probability prices continue upward for the next 2 years.

If inventory ever recovers we could see factory rebates again like they had at the end of 2019. That's when we bought a new 2020 crew cab Silverado 4x4 for $34k. Now worth $38k kbb min. Same truck as new is now $54k or more if you can find one.

If prices continue upward like they have since 2019 by 2024 you could be looking at $65k for the same truck. Even if they offer factory rebates again the discount wont get you back to today's prices.
