Weatherby mark v super game master 30-06. That gun and I have some memories and covered alot of miles. I have killed so much meat and some big deer with that rifle. It's had like 3 scopes. Currently it wears a leupold vx5 HD 2-10x42. Very light weight and a great hunting rifle.

I have an array to chose from but in recent years a Remington 722 in 300 Savage has become my favorite not only because of the cartridge but love the way the rifle fits. I decided to get back into 300 Savage and picked up a 722. First 300 Savage that isn't a 99 in one flavor or the other! Looking forward to getting to know this rifle, already a big fan of the cartridge.

.338 and 7mm. I prefer short actions for deer so cartridges would be 338Fed and 7mm08. Give me a Remington 7, 600 or 700 please.

We have to use straightwall ammo in Iowa (leaps better than 12 ga with rifled barrels and sabots tho!). 350 Legend (Winchester 180gr .357 diameter) works real well and is most of our hunting groups go to round now.

i have been handloading over 50 years now, i have killed a mess of deer with a whole lot of different calibers. our season here in SC on private land runs from Aug. 15-jan1 up until about 5 years ago there was no limit on bucks, and several does. so, in my youth i had opportunity to kill more than a plenty. and to tell you the truth there aint a nickel worth of difference from one caliber to the next in my experience, it is all about shot placement. if i had to say the best all around, it would be the 30-06,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I have never harvested a animal but I have killed quite a few,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
