Bread is sugar cunningly disguised as food. Haven’t had any since December. Don’t miss it much and found other things to put butter on….. I didn't realize that bread and television were first cousins.

Dad alternately called wonder bread “dreck” and “paff”.

You mean it's no good for you? But I thought it built strong bodies, 12 ways...?

More of a Dave's Killer Bread kinda guy myself. This ^^^ Only bread (or buns) I buy except a fresh baguette once in a great while. I quit eating white sawdust bread when I started buying my own food at age 15. I've got to where I just make cornbread or skillet bread here if I'm using bread for sopping etc. And this ^^^ Plus biscuits, Naan bread, and tortillas. Don't eat a lot of any of it, though.

I don't like roof sheathing masquerading as bread.

Fried bologna sandwiches and mustard on Wonder, canned green beans/corn and grape kool-aid as a kid. Thought we was da rich kids. When there was extra money we gots a slice of fake cheese. When I was a kid I went to a neighborhood kid's birthday party. When it came time for a meal, after the Pin The Tail On The Donkey, the mom had a table set up with Wonder Bread and a package of sliced bologna, and we'd stand in line for a sandwich and some Kool Aid. When you got to the table the mom would put two slices of Wonder Bread on your plate and ask if you'd like one slice of bologna or two. I was appalled. What kind of meal was that?? You need to stack that sandwich high with bologna, not to mention some lettuce and mayo. One or two slices???

Agreed. Ya gotta stack a sandwich like you're one of the countermen at Katz' Deli.

At my house you'd have got one slice of the cheapest bologna on the cheapest store brand bread. Multiple slices of bologna and name brand anything was rich kid terrirory and that wasn't us. Hell I didn't even know what a beef steak tasted like until after I was out on my own. Hamburger and a cheap chuck roast once in awhile was as close as we came growing up.

My brother used to call me Wonder Bread (white loafer) when I didn't want to do my chores.
"Come on Wonder Bread we're not done yet"
I never did care for the bread.

I never did care for the bread. Now that's funny stuff! We used to call those guys dairy farmers - milking the job!

Wonder bread was a prime example of a product of little value that was packaged in a way to attract buyers. It cost more and provided less nutrition than any other bread on the shelf. Myself I prefer the wheat 22 grain breads for every app. Will buy wheat French bread for subs. Mb Since when did anybody eat bread for nutrition? Right, I always thought it was to keep the mayo and mustard off my hands…..
Life can be rough on us dreamers.

How about a Dogwood sandwich, complete with an olive on top?
