…feeding, firing and extracting.
My Sons gun and I don’t believe he shot it much at all, and IIRC, he had mentioned issues when new about 2/3 years ago,
I tried Remington LR, won’t eject fired casing,
Then tried CCi, again issues on firing, rim was dented like the firing pin did strike but did not not fire, then also failure to eject.
I’m no rimfire expert and never owned a Roger but what’s the story here?

Contact Ruger. Send it in for warranty work.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

That’s most likely the end result,,
Kinda waiting to hear from Junior, he’s currently unavailable, (Military).

I've had pretty good luck with the centerfire versions of the Ruger American. But the 22 was a waste of my money. My 10-22 was more accurate and more reliable. I had to work the bolt quite aggressively to get mine to eject. Sold mine after a short time and replaced it with a Tikka T1x.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

The Ruger forum on rimfirecentral is rife with these issues. It's not at all uncommon for the Ruger Americans to have issues, especially with extraction. I had two Americans, both with the "Predator" profile, a blued .22LR and a stainless .22WMR. I finally just kept boresnakes in their carrying cases, when they'd fail to extract, I'd drag the snake thru the barrel a couple of times, and they'd work again, until it happened again.
I ended up giving them to a couple of my nephews, who haven't reported any issues of note. They live out of state, and I don't get to visit with them much, though. I included the boresnakes with the rifles, and told them both what to expect.
I am not a fan. I really wanted to like them, I really did.

A friend and ! bought new Ruger American Rimfires in .17 HMR about 5 years ago. Neither would feed or eject properly. We sent them back to Ruger and they replaced both rifles with different ones that function perfectly. The problem was that there was apparently a specific run of RAR's in which the bolt face did not line up properly with the chamber. If your rifle was made around the same time ours were, perhaps that is the issue. Ruger will make it right.

I had a the predator model, it was a nightmare, I could have sent it back but I got a great deal on it online and actually sold for more than I paid for it. My RPR in 22lr wasnt anything to write home about either.

I had to send mine back immediately after shooting it the first time. Came back functioning perfectly. Hope it stays that way.

I’m gonna say regarding the extraction issue, there’s a burr in the chamber or wax buildup off some ammo you ran through it.
And the FYF, maybe a grease booger inside the bolt on the firing pin causing a weak strike.

I was in the market for a 22 WMR and very nearly bought an American. I got the basic skinny barrel, wood stocked and iron sighted Savage 93 instead. After reading this thread, I'm glad I did.

My first RAR was a predator model in 22 WMR.
It shot incredibly well...well enough to order a 22 LR and a 17 HMR.
The 22 LR shoots average at best and the 17 HMR had all of the issues described in the OP.
The 22 WMR still gets used from time to time but the 17 went down the road and the LR just sits in the back of the safe...
