When the horn blew my grandmother and all the other ladies in town went to the factory to pack sardines. I remember when the boiler blew up when Port Clyde Packing burned down, my brothers and sisters and I were about 1/2 mile away watching from Marshal Point, it broke windows a mile away.

Eat them straight out of the can and then do shots of the EVOO.

No thanks,i worked with a bunch of square heads that scarfed cans of them down at lunchtime. The smell put me off. That's why, in polite circles, sardines are called "sewer trout." I just thought you'd like to know. L.W.

I eat sardines every other day, alternating with herring.
