My mother made better pies with a fruit jar than I can with this fancy pin.

We have one and we keep it in the refrigerator for rolling out pie dough.Pies come out better if the dough is kept cold.

I have a rolling pin identical to that. I don’t have any problems with it but I roll my pie crust out by putting it in a 13 gallon kitchen trash bag or a large rural king bag. Once I get the crust flattened out I take a pair of scissors, cut around the perimeter and pull the top piece of bag off of the crust. I then take and flip the crust, which is on the bottom piece of bag, onto the pie plate. I then pull the bag off leaving the crust in the plate. If making noodles, I usually just use a wooden rolling pin and a big wooden cutting board I have.

Keeps it in the refrigerator as stated

I am still using my great grandmother's hand carved wooden rolling pin. I did upgrade it some years back with a silicon sleeve that fits over it. No reason to ever use a different one for most things. I have several specialty rolling pins for making pasta, but for pies, it's always the old one. For me, making and rolling pie crust is second nature. No special technique or frills, but I can roll out and handle a very thin crust with no issues.
