Retired Colonel Douglas Macgregor says that he's still in contact with some of the brass in the Army and he has quite a bit to say on the matter. Everybody has to choose who and what they're going to believe these days,...lots of fake news out there. In fact, the majority of what the west produces in the way of journalism is fake news. But I can't see how Colonel Macgregor would benefit from what he has to say about the subject.

He's a retired military officer and I can't imagine any agenda he would have.

This is from September and things may or may not have changed. But he makes a point of mentioning how patient the Russians can be about these things.
