Nope, Texas..they don't grow them like that in Maryland, but I'll bet they taste just as good!

Here's a dandy Sika buck, taken a few years ago in Missouri- wish I could say it was good eating, tasty for sure, but tough as leather!

I didn’t realize the bucks got that big. I’ve only killed a doe. Both of those bucks look like a hoss. Congratulations to the Grand Poobah and Bighorn !

The deer on the Maryland's Eastern shore are Japanese Sika. Most of the Sika found at Shooting Preserves and ranches are Polynesian Sika. Poly's get substantially bigger in both body and antler size.

I'm taking your lead on mine, after my experiences with elk. The big ones are tasty...but chewy, so my Sika is going into nothing but burgers and back straps.

I see left the .223 at home this time and pulled out the big guns. What does a Sika taste like?

I see left the .223 at home this time and pulled out the big guns. What does a Sika taste like? The meat is super dark, almost purple/black on the three I've killed. IMHO, something like Axis, but a tad more "gamey", Makes great jerky! ya! GWB
