Next Week. I don't have high hopes for a passing grade... I prepared for failure though. Y'all think it'll hold up?

Will they do rolling brown outs? The official response from them is "No, the grid is fixed". The general opinion is that it's not fixed, and not much has changed.

We wouldn't have but ERCOT contacted our electric co-op and told them they WOULD shut down in order to send power other places. From what I gathered the co-op told them "No"... and continued to operate. Then the higher ups in ERCOT jumped in with both feet and said if they didn't it would be done for them...

Back up generators are fueled checked out ready to go no problem here. Rio7 People are prepared this year. Last year folks were on autopilot letting the politico's and the leftist Greenies take care of them. They got a rude awakening. Fool me once ...... kwg

Got a whole house generator now. As long as I have natural gas I’m good.

Cold fronts bringing below normal temps for 3-4 days. It's not so much how cold it gets, but the fact that it lingers below normal for extended periods in areas that houses and stuff weren't geared up for. I look for half of Texas to be in single digits for awhile. That will test the grid.

I was thinking the same thing. I ran my generator and changed the oil but still need to fill up my gas can.
I wonder if the "rolling brown outs" will be more widespread this time. I didn't lose power in 2021 but in 2011 my power was on 5 minutes every hour....I guess I got put on an essential power switch in between?

Maybe this time if they need to use rolling blackouts, they will avoid shutting down natural gas pumping stations.😂😂😂😂😂
That would be a big help!
Shouldn't laugh, but when all those smart folks, with big degrees, decided to eliminate natural gas engines to pump natural gas and then use electric? Much of it provided by gas?
Hmmm. Let's take two critical utilities and tie them together in a way that makes them 100% co-dependent
Then to not create procedures to protect pumping stations?
My Low-C public high school diploma could see that as.....Not good. A blue collar, after making a much smaller mistake, would never get a job better than picking fly shït out of sawdust.
And not having power plants enclosed? Texas has warmer temps then the North. Obviously. But much of the North gets highs that are very close to much of Texas, just not as much. And we don't lose plants to over heating.
Much of Texas gets lows well below freezing, just not as cold, or as long. To not build critical infrastructure to function in weather that can be expected, even if not often, seems.....negligent?

Never lost power last time. Our CO-OP dropped power for 4 hours last time.

This time I will shut the water off at the meter and I/ve invested in a LNG whole house generator. ya! GWB

I think they might be diverting some of the power to California.

If you are on a rate plan that passes spikes in price on to you, might be time to switch.
