I'm looking at the Starline brass website and what I want is back ordered. I've read some comments on other threads that it doesn't take long to get the brass you back order.
Any experience with that? How long did it take to get it after you placed order?

Last time I ordered backordered brass from them, it took 22 days from order to shipping.

It depends on which brass you order. I have received some in several weeks, and I have some that has been backordered for months.
YMMV

I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and see if they have a projected date. I can always make do if I know they will be getting it in.

Seems like the timeframe they gave me was a few days longer than when I got the brass both times I ordered on backorder. Very pleased with Starline as a company and as a product.

I got mine in days. Others sell it too, generally in smaller batches and a bit more expensive.
What fresh Hell is this?

Sometimes it does seem like majic when it comes in.
I have done it 2 times and in about 2 weeks it became available.
Good brass too.

Talked to Starline today. They have no date when the .358 Win. brass will be available. I know i can buy Hornady brass from several sources at quite a bit higher price. Hate to spend the money for it when I've got 560 rounds of once fired Hornday .308 brass.
I've never reformed brass, preferring proper headstamps. Is there anything more to it than full length resizing in a .358 die? Would you folks just go this route?

That'll be fine if your die has some sort of tapered expander ball.

It took 2.5 months on backorder to get 450 Bushmaster. I got enough to where I never have to worry about it again.
Wish I could find .375 Ruger now.

That'll be fine if your die has some sort of tapered expander ball. Or you could get a tapered expander mandrel die. I’d maybe go 338 then 358 first, but I’d certainly try it first with the 358 to see if it saves a step.

I'd buy the Starline and wait for it, then play a bit with the Hornady. From experience with 357 Herrett and 35 Whelen, the 30 cal to 35 cal step is rather large. Lee makes a tapered expander mandrel that helped me produce some good results.

I've always received "backordered" Starline brass within about ten days or less. Maybe I've just been lucky.

My 7mm08 took about 6 months, I forgot all about it then one day I get an email that my order is ready for shipping. Great brass.

I just checked the USPS tracking and the rifle is at the post office. My dealer is closed Sun/Mon. I should have it tomorrow.
The seller shipped a set of Lee dies with the rifle. I plan on taking this gun to Mississippi after Christmas, so I'm going to run a test batch of reformed brass and see how that works. If it works, I'll at least have some brass I can do up a small batch to hunt with.
I'm going to order the Starline and join the wait and see club.

I picked up the rifle and dies. I got out 60 rounds of the once fired Hornady brass to experiment with reforming to .358. Using Imperial lube on the case and inside the necks I was able to reform in one pass. Very easy and no cases were damaged. I measured cases before reforming @ 2.05 and after @ 1.97 inches. I should have enough for a quick load test and load enough to take to Mississippi. Once fired.308 in the middle flanked by the reformed .358 cases.

I make most of my 358 cases by simply sizing 308 cases in the 358 die. I suppose one could use an intermediate die to take the neck up a bit at a time but I didn’t find it necessary with my Browning head stamped brass.

How is the concentricity of the reformed brass?

I don't have any gauges to measure that. Looks straight, but my eyeballs are not certified.
