My daughter, an international teacher. stayed in Taiwan for 3 yrs. Then Cairo, Egypt for 5 yrs. She is done with Egypt and took a job in New Kingston , Jamaica. Has anyone been there ? What is it like. I am happy for her,,, , , , I really am, but the 1st thing I thought of is the ocean fishing I could do. Anyone go ocean fishing there? Is it safe??? Where she is , it should be. Any pictures? Thanks in advance.

Kingston is a very dangerous high crime city. The fishing is ok around the island. Not known for great ocean fishing but ok. Fishing is done offshore on charter boats and it ain’t cheap. Offshore Charter boats around $1000 a day for a cheaper ones

Hope she can find housing in a gated secure housing area. There are safe pockets around the island where tourists go but they gated and have security.

As a white guy you cant just go travel around the island checking stuff out. Like Chicago with more sun and sand

It has a travel advisory, gang violence is apparently getting out of hand, other than that it sounds nice.

Not only unsafe, it is insane, and has been for many years. Tell your girl to bail out ASAP.

Jamaica and Haiti have much in common.......

Yes. Like white rapes and killings where perps are never found or prosecuted.

I don't know Jamaica but if she made it through Cairo she probably has a good nose for people who want to do her harm. Cairo is a dump and if you are obviously not from there, like any White person would be it is a continuous stream of scammers trying to get nickel off you, at its best.

Jamaica is the second most dangerous country in the world in 2022,...murder rate of 43.85 per 100,000. In other words, the entire country has the same murder rate as Memphis, Tennessee.

Kingston and St. James are particularly violent.

In contrast, Cairo, Egypt has a murder rate of 10.6 per 100,000.

My personal opinion, your daughter will return shortly with a different opinion than she has now.
