Only holes I have dug since mid March 2003 have been pet graves..

Felt like a fuuuking German today.
Endless digging and not accomplishing schit.
Until I seen progress.
But I hit my goal for the day per time hack plan for 3 to 4 days to get this done.
Tommorow is start early and dig till done and maybe concrete saw the side walk sections.

I might just try dual bottle jacking it up with a 2x4 going to both jacks underthat low spot on thr walk way brace it up higher than the level it is supposed to be at prior to settling .
Do the mole routine dig out the pipe under the side walk like the trench to set that up....

Might spare me the exspense of renting the concrete saw.
And I got 2 bottle jack and 2x4,s and other wood for bracing.

Then settle the side walk back down to level and not bowed after back filling it right and maybe placing some thin paver slabs under it to maintain level and spread weight out.

I dunno....

Sleep on it tonight...

Been a while since I've dealt with leaky/plugged piping! ...or dug a trench!

Don't forget to slope the pipe downhill. Forget the slope. Like 1":10'. Not much, but it's crucial.
As to where the pipe goes under the walk, I'd cut in a grate so that should it happen again, you won't have to cut the walkway again. "Fecal matter occurs!".

I'd bed the pipe with sand* about halfway, then backfill. Remove the rocks (if possible) from the backfill.

From studies done by the AWWA, the life expectancy of PVC underground is approximately 1500 years! They haven't completed any testing at this time.

* - sand fills in voids more readily

Ren, I didn't know you lived in a city. For some reason that surprises me. Not a slight, just a comment.

Live in a subdivision off 41A bypass just before Ashland city rd/ hwy 12.
Beacon Hills.
Since 2001.
Probably have seen cops in here 8 or 9 times.
I think they got lost most of the time wondering where the fuuk does this street go???

We even got a Black Family in the neighborhood now since late 2021.
And a Mexican Family too...
The Black dude is a mil retired type.
The cans do roofing.
Probably about 1/2 the homeowners here are retired military.

Rest of us of about 40 45 homes all whitey..
Homes all made 1964 to 65 in here.

800 acres of land behind the house I used to have permission to hunt.
Got a nice long term occupied arrowhead spot about 600 yds as the crow files by the Cumberland.

Now those woods and fields getting filled up with MCmansions.

I thought most knew I lived in City limits.
Clarksville occupies a large area.

I still consider myself a FNG here, always learning about folks lol. Figured you were on a lump of land out in the boonies.

My parents are looking at several areas to permanently retire (again), and Clarksville is one of those areas. Good to know it's got some nice areas, though they're looking for about 200 acres, so who knows where they'll land.

Stewart County has land.
Montgomery County way more expensive.

Lotta land auctions and sales in the area.
Quick sales happen alot by inheritance types who have 0 interest in farming or hunting.
Large lots get sold to developers for subdivisions.
Attract buyers because they are outside city limits/ tax rates
Then boom 3 to 5 years later the city annexs em into city limits.
Homeowners pissed .
Good Ole boys like Mace and Tucker developers and other developers play the game with their good Ole boys in Clarksville .gov.
Been going on for decades and Clarksville city limits land area keeps expanding.
I 1st got here in July 90.
Population was around 79k
Now it is up around 160k IIRC.
Never has stopped growing.
Never has really seen economic hard times.
Business friendly .
Industrial park.
Right to work state.
No state income tax, liberal socialist Democrats always trying to fuuk with that here.

High standard low cost of living .
Unlike other cities and states.

I'm one of those Damm Yankee soldiers that arrived here 33 yrs ago this july and decided to stay here.

Thanks for posting that! I’ve been having sewer clogging problems for awhile and have not been checking to see if I was snaking two way clean outs. That would explain some of my puzzling results if the snake was going upstream and not downstream.

I think the best way to ensure that you're digging up the line again in the near future is to try to take the slump out of the existing pipe. Sounds like you plan on replacing the clean out. You really need to replace the pipe from the clean out to the road side of the far low spot. With the pipe out of the trench, remove any loose fill that was put in under the line originally. Replace with pea gravel under the pipe. Once you have the line dug up, the hardest part is done.

Pipe is relatively inexpensive. If you don't replace the pipe and fix it right this time, it will start causing problems again during the peak of next fall's rut....🦌

You might consider using some sakcrete to bed pipe. Put it in their dry. It will get hard, will keep belly out of line. It could be line was originally dug with a trenching machine. They throw loose dirt back in if they get too deep. It settles, causes bellies in the sewer lines. A 4” line should fall an inch every 8’.

Is there any fiber-optic, phone or cable lines buried that you might dig up or cut? Sounds like you have it figured out and saved a good chunk of money.

I hate digging holes so bad, that I talked the wife into a backhoe attachment when I bought a new tractor in 2013. I don't use it often, but when I do it's worth every penny. I've actually made my money back on it in just a few big projects. I buried 3 neighbors horses for $500 ea. (they insisted on paying me), dug a septic tank and dug a storm shelter hole (saved $2500 doing it myself). Not to mention all the other little digging tasks I've used it for.

I agree. You went to a lot of work to dig it up, don't stop half-assed. ABS/PVC is relatively cheap.

‘50…unless I missed something it seems your sag is short of that concrete walkway? If so replace that run with ABS. 1/4” per foot fall and bed in sand..

Pass on all that trying to jack the belly outta your line nonsense brother

Keep in mind while replacing that cleanout, I know it’s right close to your house and shallow, but a two way thats plugged up and full of sewage makes it awfully hard to tell which way your snake is going…

Better in most cases to run two combos back to back so you KNOW which way you’re going

If the pipe is good, shoot the grade from the house end to the other end.
If you have 1/8 - 1/4" per foot grade, just string line the pipe, and bring it back to grade, with a firm bottom trench.
Then backfill, compacting in lifts.

Holy fuuuk..

Lever and fulcrum Toby labor ...🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😖😖😖🤷‍♂️🤣
Keep building up height with blocks till angled up enough that I had ergo and gravity advantage to flip the fuukers outta the way and then simply lever and fulcrum away more out of the immediate work area.

Took homie about 20 25 mins with the concrete saw and then about 90 mins doing Toby work.

I ain't digging schitt today.
I'm pretty smoked .
Dig tommorow...

Get a shower. Go return this saw
61 bucks otd for 4 hrs rental.
