It's schedule 40 pipe.
So far looks primo condition .
Have not run into any joint sleeves yet on its run.

1st digging gonna be the spot under the side walk .
Then out into the lawn 25ft I'm thinking by scope guys measurements.
Hopefully around 13 14 ft the level will show I'm getting out of the bow...

This digging is gonna suck .
But not as bad as moving them slabs yesterday sucked...

🤦‍♂️😖🤦‍♂️

Even I woulda known to fuuukkng measure a clear run under the fuuuking side walk and put the 1st fuuuking joint up near the house to allow the run under the side walk...
😡😡😡🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😡😡😡
Now this forces me to make a decision about a cut 2ft on either side of the side walk and sticking a section in.

It,s not flexed on this joint.

Smoke break the start digging out into the lawn...

Didn't I read prior that the sidewalk was most likely done after?

Exactly .
They shoulda planned and at least gave themselves a 2 to 3 ft leeway for joints on either side.
Next door neighbor said the side walk was done the next week

No wonder the fuuking thing settled and cracked right on top of the pipe...

Bout 90 mins in
3 smoke breaks.
Pics and posting.

Just a little under 5 more feet dug.

I ain't gonna kill myself, gonna change time line and dig tommorow also.
Supposed to rain on Friday.
Dgaf about trench getting wet.
Then Saturday thru Monday good weather.
Geuss getting this backfilled in by tommorow and using Saturday to reset the sidewalk was a pipe dream..
🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🥴🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Do 15ft max today see how far I get into the house side of the bow today.
I can see it starting in the span of about the last 7or 8ft.
Ran the level down it pretty pronounced to one side bubble change from the rest of the run back to the house.
And still pulling up cantaloupe sized rocks.😡😡😡
Call it quits at 3....

If they used the right glue and let it cure, that coupler should be as good as a weld joint. As strong as a straight run. Let it be unless it looks suspect.

Agree!

Now dig, get this over with, quit been a pussy.

Damn rain will probably make the trench walls cave in then you'll have to dig the damn thing twice!

It looks good man .
Just ticks me off that it is their.
I aint never done anything like this. But common sense would have ruled if it was my project long ago.

Got a plan in head to build a bridge under the slabs when I place them back with couple peices of 10 ft angle iron.
Peice off mind distribute weight off the back fill under the side walk and that joint

Been finding that asphalt on the cheap pee paw Falstaff beer sewer pipe slumlord mentioned

Get done at 3.
Clean top of pipe and take level readings the length of it.

Shouldn't matter had it been bedded on top of fine gravel, 1/2" or less, then encased in the same gravel a few inches over the pipe.

We have replaced lines and poured back within days. If the pipe is on a solid bed whatever happens above it won't matter.

Joints under the walk shouldn't matter either. A lot of slabs poured right on top of a lot of joints and have more weight on them than that 10 Sq ft of sidewalk.

Build gravel up to bottom of where sidewalk will be, just like a gravel sub grade.

Don't set pipe right on dirt. Dig out enough for a gravel bed.

Well .
They obviously didn't do schit like that..

Fuuking boulders
Fuuking red clay and brown dirt
0 sign of sand or gravel anywhere along bottom or sides of pipe encountered.

But sand and gravel mix will be their before I back fill minus all these fuuuuuking cantaloupe rocks.

Wait one for a pic.

Never heard of sand, at least not in these parts. I figured that would just filter towards the bottom where it's really not doing anything.
