Had Karl Kampfield flute my Tikka bolt, That long ass bolt with the most mundane look ever on the entire rifle never sat righ with me,

Before,

After, duh……..

Well done Karl, Nice touch,

But, thinking maybe I should have had him flute the bolt knob also?

It ever ends……………..

Yup, Karl does really nice work and IMHO does the cleanest bolt fluting I've seen. He did my Tikka SL and I also had him put on one of his Campfire bolt knobs.

Some of the newer Tikka's have the fluted bolts and I really like them. Nice touch for sure and Karl does excellent work. I wouldn't fret the bolt knob, as the bolt handles are extremely easy to replace on your own and there are many options to choose from out there that would go well with your new fluted bolt. Nice looking rifle there.

Congrats, you paid 80 bucks to make it easier for debris to get inside your action.

Should've put the $$ towards a decent scope and rings.

Nice. How does your 6.5 shoot?

Just picked up one myself in same make/model/cartridge, but only shot one box of the cheapest factory ammo to make sure it functions and shows some promise, before it got dropped off for a barrel cut and thread.

No I think the real issue is you can't spell creedmoor.

Typical Tikka, very accurate in my opinion,

140 grain Berger VLDs with H4350, Possibly the most accurate load and rifle I own,

127g LRX with Varget or H4350, still around a .75 gun,

And of course Karen mentioned I need new rings and a scope, so there’s that………….

The only thing left that I wish was available for this rifle is a trigger tech trigger or similar,

Maybe someday that would be a possibility, fingers crossed.

So let me get this straight, I'm a "karen"? Ok then what is the grown man upset that a stranger didnt immediately congratulate him on a worthless aesthetic "upgrade" to his rifle?

You are projecting. "Facelifts" are for old vain women.

Oh and p.s., factory tikka triggers are fine...from the factory. It's not some p.o.s. 700 for phugg sake. Save your trigger pennies and buy some sportsmatch rings.

Good looking work. I wouldn't change the trigger out if I were you. The Tikka triggers are very good and extremely reliable under adverse conditions. The Rem 700 style triggers, while also very good, are not as reliable when dirt or ice is introduced to them. If you would like more adjustability, a quick spring change-out will get you where you want to be.

Lets see if we can’t trigger Karen all over again,

Spent some more lunch money on a thread protector that Karl was willing to do,

So you’re both tools. It’s none of our business what the man spends his money on. If you don’t like it or don’t think it’s worth the money move along. Pretty childish to cut down a mans gun who is showing it off not asking for opinions.

Pretty childish is insulting someone , that happens a lot here.

He can spend his money anyway he wants but the fact is fluting serves no purpose other than visual. It does introduce dirt to the inside of the action.

If you don’t like the look or think the juice isn’t worth the squeeze fine. If it makes you feel better to put his rifle down that he’s clearly pleased with go for it. Spare us the dirt in the action bs. If dirt is going in then it’s going in flutes or no flutes. Save that silly mess for the next use enough gun anti suppressor meeting.

I agree with the other poster that dirt is introduced into the action with flutes. That is a fact no BS. Thats the extent of my post.

I want you to dig up any post I have ever made on this site where I criticized what someone else has built or any item they were selling.

The sole purpose of fluting that bolt was ‘visual’,

Mission completed perfectly.

The dirt introduction is so pointless I won’t even address it.

You guys ok with the matte black finish on the scope? Interested on your thoughts on that has well.

Caliber or cartridge need to be changed or discussed while were at it?

Please do feel free to tell me what I should buy or spend my money on, after all, this is all about you.

Came with the rifle, bought the gun slightly pre-owned here in the classifieds,

Would prefer Horizontal split rings over Vertiical,

We could start a poll, Everyone gets a vote………….

Color, and vertical or horizontal split.

Straight flutes on the barrel and spiral on the bolt. Blowin' the whistle on a rifle fashion faux pas.

You need a spiral fluted barrel in the opposite direction of the bolt to maintain proper yin-yang balance smirk

I just wrap the rifle solid in electrical tape from just before the recoil lug back to the wrist. Ejection is a problem but it stays super clean.

I've shot Tikkas since 1998. I think it looks great and can't imagine many animals that you can't take easily with that setup. The idiots that critique how you spend your money wouldn't even warrant a response from me.

Well done Karl, Nice touch,

But, thinking maybe I should have had him flute the bolt knob also?

It ever ends……………..

My favorite style of fluting and it really dresses up a tikka!

Looks pretty darn good fo sho!

Looks great.
I’ve had some done by Karl and LRI. In my opinion, both do very nice work, and there’s a big price difference.
The gain is cosmetic for me. The weight loss and other so called attributes are insignificant.

i admire dead critters

and skills to get dead critters. otc on public land preferably.

like i said, never dressed up a pipe wrench or a set of back up tongs, or my grundens.

funny thing is, i think a glock 17 is flash, same with a tikka superlite with an swfa 3-9.

but spending money on looks?? some dudes like chicks with bolt ons and war paint. not my bag, or should i say hag.

I am one of those shooters, and I imagine if you were to be passing that hammer or pipe wrench down for generations their looks might be more important.

I'm guilty^^^^ Some guys just don't get it. You know the guys that just think of them as tools, don't take care of them either. They look like a POS after they use them. I've seen it many times at gun shops. It's a shame too because they probably don't take care of other schidt like their house or cars either. I like the OP's fluting and Karl does excellent work. Thanks to the OP for sharing!!

Karens will always find reason(s) to cry and that never ain't not funnier than fhuqk. Hint.

I'm into results, but it takes more than a notch in a bolt,to deter me. Though in fairness, the schit rings and schit glass are funnier than fhuqk! Hint.

Another Tikka fix, if no one has mentioned it, is buy a CTR stock on the cheap, take the plastic cheek piece off, put it on your standard stock, use Sportsmatch mid height 30MM rings on your scope, and alignment between eye and ocular is perfect.

At least one the three I have.

Max ring spacing,is a scope's BEST friend and extry surface area upon the ring proper, only bolsters integrity. 'Course a good scope is requisite! Hint.

I like to use the ctr stocks and bottom metal on sporters. Works like a charm for curing coal issues for the 223’s. The ctr fits me really well so that’s another plus.

I really like the sports match rings too. These scopes have more than enough travel for the distances I shoot. I did put a 30moa rail on the tikka rimfire and used the issued rail on the real ctr. The rest have got sports match.

CTR's are the ONLY mags worth a fhuqk, that Teeker makes. Hint.

The Sporter CTR 223 ploy,is a very good move. Hint.

That being said, ring spacing remains paramount. Hint.

And if only per ALWAYS,everything on the erector below zero,is 100% fhuqking USELESS. Hint..................

On the Vudon't,all that I could source for an extended 1913 rail, was 30MOA of inclination. I really should throw a set of 'Horn's on there,as I nailed killer DOPE to 400yds yesterday, before the weather swapped. Hint.

Ring spacing of course makes a big fhuqk, even on Rimfires. Teeker schit bottom "metal",never don't suck ass and only CTR's get a pass. Hint.

That’s the same rail I used on the rimfire. Had to chop it too. The metal bottom metal looks nice too.

I’ll put the JO metal on the mini after work. Looks like it came in yesterday and I didn’t notice it.

I ALWAYS take a rail that is "too long",over someone's version of "good enough". Happiness is a close trim. Hint.

I want my action screws, cut from the same cloth, with FULL engagement and a trim. Hint.

The JO will impress. Hint................

LOL. I’ve taken a little bit of ribbing over those rings , we cool,

I actually don’t mind that scope, does all I need it to do,

But if that scope just disgusts you that much, Go into that closet of yours, grab a NIB Optic of choice and send her this way.
Throw in one of those yellow paint sticks too……….And some mounts and rings if only obviously,

Hint there……

TIA.

Some Campfire approved scope rings should of been received by the Op by know but even the post office in Oregon can fook up the simple task of sending a package crazy

Queeneth,

I've happily given away more wares, than you'll ever have, but I'm no compelled to help the helpless. Hint.

Talking about shooting,is way more forgiving than actually shooting and you really should start a Thread,if/when you fire the first live round of this new year. Hint.

sportsmatch rings aren't pic rail and a good recoil level durable.

had two sets not handle drops.. add in 3 if you count t1x

pic rail and good rings solved that right quick.

i hate looking at a scope cattywampused with 40 mils elevation stock.. unless i'm actually going to use it. schit glass only gets worse. and my googlie eyes don't need help getting worse

as for looks. thats some [bleep] s schit right there. then [bleep] get all swooned out talking about smells. gayer then aids.

Inclination is factored by glass selection. For a 6x MQ,I'll greedily take 75 MOA,as to yield all of the erector down range. Hint................
