Here you go Angus1895.

Too bad she drank herself to death, just goes to show you that all the fame and fortune in the world doesn't buy you happiness. frown

The next morning when we all woke up the first thing my brother would do is go to the refrigerator to see if there was any beer left.

Me OTOH, when I was hungover I would react to even the sight of alcohol the way a vampire did to sunlight in those old movies.

Nothing at all to do with willpower or personality, hadda be genetic.

Both my brother and my cousin hit rock bottom in their time. Both of them now swear by Alcoholics Anonymous, turned their lives around. My brother met his wife there and it’s been a great marriage.

I’m very sorry to hear of your son but there’s hope.

Glad to hear about your cousin and brother and their success against Demon Rum.

Maybe someday we get good news like that about his son from 1minute.

We rarely drink, but with any coming, all alcohol is tucked away behind laundry in our master bedroom. He has to bring his own stash.

I too believe there is a genetic component. Totally clean as a youngster, but after about a month-long visit with some school buddies, he came home solidly hooked on both nicotine and booze. Cookie's father was a mean and obvious alcoholic downing a half pint before breakfast. Liver and lungs killed him in his mid-fifties, so it's part of our heritage. If supplies are exhausted at 2:00AM, son must do an immediate trip out for new supplies.

Seeing him with hacking coughs, spitting, and trembling, we will not enable. I suspect his 70+ year old parents will outlive him.

Tough row to hoe buddy.. you have my sympathies

My daughter and her husband are both alcoholics, and she's bipolar to boot. No plans to get any better- - - -they "don't have a problem"! The booze gets locked up anytime they're around, which is frequently, because they live on 5 acres we gave them at the corner of our place. My son has 5 acres on the other end of the property, and he doesn't have a problem, although he's not a teetotaler.
