I had a friend over last night for cocktails and we discussed our upcoming Canada fishing trip. He and I e-mail and text each other several times a month.
I was driving this morning and he texted me that he is getting pings on maps on his phone as to where I am and am going.
Neither of us have any idea why this would be happening.
Any ideas?

You probably turned on the part of your text messages that lets your tracking info be sent to him.

If it's an iPhone, tap on his name or number at the top of your text to him. It will show if you're sending him tracking info.

For what it is worth, this feature can easily be turned on and off. It is pretty handy in the right circumstances too. My Neice turns it on when she gets here for the week and off when she leaves. That way when she leaves the house I can watch it and know she made it to work and not have to call or text her. It's pretty slick.
