I am with Mart! The .400 Whelen for me…although my rifle likes the 360s best at a lightning fast 2225 fps. Nice deer and nice looking gun

I’ve done a lifetime’s worth of 45/70, 458 and 50 Alaskan shooting, plenty enough for me anyway. I did take my Whelen with 250s at 2550 on a moose hunt last fall but that’s about as big as my rifle stuff gets these days. These days if I’m shooting big and slow it’s either handgun stuff or deer hunting with my longbow. Giant Simmons broadheads on heavy arrows at 165fps is pretty big and slow I guess. Great pic.

I prefer big and fast. I’ll be toting a CVA Scout 444 Marlin to the woods this fall. Shooting a 225 grain Bear Creek Ballistics Bullet with an average velocity of 2,680 fps. I recently bought a CVA Scout 45-70 hopefully I’ll get some loads worked up for it as well.

OK, not “Big &Slow”…..how about “Medium & Medium”! 375 AI with 280 grain cast…..only about 1400 fps. Great for plinking with my hunt’n rifle! 😉 memtb

The triggers on my muzzle loader, 44mags (rifle and pistol) and 45/70 are all amazing. Even more so considering the price point.

My favorite big and slow. 400 Whelen, 400 grain bullet (in this case a Hawk) 2150 fps. A 400 grain Woodleigh. No blue tape so I wore blue gloves. This time a screaming fast light weight. A 300 grain Barnes TSX at 2300. Sweet set-up, there!

Yep, just finishing testing a 788 44 magnum shooting 400 grain bullets at 1000 fps. Doesn't get much bigger or slower than that. What ya hunting? Elephant! I stick with 240's out of my 788, 44 mag.
