The good news is that the bass fishing has been quite good. On our best day the first week of commercial we did 235 pounds in 4 hours. The shop took in 5000 pounds on the first day.

A floor full of eels seems like a lunch opportunity.

Thanks. I do love the stuffed whole bass on the grill. That one was stuffed with scallions, ginger, garlic and asparagus with a nice glaze of lime, honey and soy. Much like F. Gump, however, I cook my striped bass a dozen different ways, easily. Variations of baked, fried, broiled, blackened, in chowders, as sashimi, etc. I enjoy eating them just about as much as I enjoy catching them.

Eels are damned delicious. Many ethnic folks eat the large ones here--and when I say ethnic I refer mostly to old Italians and Portuguese, though a variety of Asians eat their share as well. Binchotan (charcoal) Broiled Japanese unagi on a bed of hot rice is one of my favorite dishes in the world.

Striper is good eating, had some fried just the other night. Those are some really nice fish, KG. I'm a little jealous.

Poor bait shop guy. I bet those slimy eels are a bitch to pick up off the floor.

I really enjoy Unagi. I’ll try to find somewhere that prepares it that way. 👍🏻

I have only had it broiled and that has been about it. For some reason in NJ not many fish markets where I lived stocked it. I had a few friends that ventured out on jetties in the dark and flung live menhaden out there and did well on really big stripers.

KG, I don't know if you are aware, but it's not legal to have that much fun these days unless you chum with an old worthless politician. Maybe you ought to take Brandon out next time, he'd be good for that.

Awesome smile

I caught a few stripers in the California Delta, but the larger ones are known to carry a lot of mercury, and eating them is discouraged.

A +40" Striper would be a hoot on a rod/reel.
