Just wondering if any of you other single shooters have heard any rumors about them doing a 1AB in another cal this year?

Thx

Memory is foggy, but I thought I heard .250 Savage was next.

I'd love a #1A in .308

Dober,

Only Jason (JEC) really knows for sure, but the last I talked to him, he said that .250 savage was on his short list. I really haven't heard of any other viable nominations, either.

I was kind of waiting for Ruger to come out with the .338 Fed. in the 1-A, but with announcment of their new proprietary RCM chamberings, I'd think that would likely preclude the .338 Fed.

After the .250 Sav, Heaven only knows what he might come up with.

The Walnut K1-A has seemed to sell fairly well for them, so one would expect them to continue the series. At least until they use up all the viable chamberings.

I know others who have asked for different options... (i.e. K1-AB or some other chamberings in blued/walnut) but since they have set the precedence, I don't look for that to change. Thus I believe that as long as they do the special run thing, we are stuck with SS/Walnut K1-A

Just idle thoughts from an idle mind....

Dober,

I just realized you were NOT referencing the K1-A (Stainless/Walnut series), but the blued #1-AB that they made last year in .25-06. Oops! My bad!

AFAIK, that was a special run, one-time deal. Not like the annual series of the K1-A. I can tell you now, that if they made a .280 AI, I'd have one in a heartbeat! Without a doubt! I'd even take it if it wasn't an AI. smile

My apologies for misinterpreting.....

GH

Believe I made the same mistake and was asleep @ the wheel when I posted that. Have heard .250 Sav for the K1a SS/walnut, but heven't heard any rumblings for the other.

A .250 Savage stainless k1a sounds pretty sweet to me!

Last I inquired it was in regards to the next K1A and it was pretty much told with out being 100% certain it was to be in .250 Savage. I had inquired about one in .300 H&H and was told that was considered and "on the short list". Wonder how long that short list is...?

You don't want to know.... Trust me on this: It's longer than you want it to be... grin crazy smile

If indeed the .250 Sav. is the next up, I will definitely have one. (Altho' I have yet to shoot my .35 Whelen, or my 6.5x55... blush )

However, A .300 H&H has a nice ring to it. But I don't think I'd want it with a 22" bbl. Seems to me that if so equipped, would hardly outrun the venerable '06...

Is there any way to lock in on one of these now (name on a list or something)? Or is it just a katie bar the door scramble when they hit the shelves? How many will be made? 250?

250 will be made like the past runs. It will be later in the year before these will be available, but I will give the campfire guys a heads up before they come in so you can get your orders in with your dealers.

Best to find a dealer who is a regular customer of Lipsey's. Give him a deposit and have him tell his salesperson, and likely you be one of the 1st to get one. smile

(I don't believe I just said that!) frown

Any No. 1 Ruger with more powder than a .250-3000 should wear a 24 inch barrel.

Any classic cartridges, like the .250-3000, .303 Brit, 8x57, should wear iron sights in a 1-A configuration.

If they don't have iron sights, nice walnut and polished blue steel, it is not very traditional, and doesn't interest me. But there are at least 250 people in a nation of 250,000,000 who will buy about any configuration.

I really like the K1A configuration. The 35 Whelen and 6.5x55 really got my attention. How does someone living in Canada buy one. If a 260 rem were produced I would have to try and get one.
