Martin B. Retting Guns in Culver City, Calif., has closed and the Culver City liberal council has bought the store so no one can open another gun store there. It saves the children, as they claim.

https://ktla.com/news/local-news/cu...n-store-to-prevent-another-from-opening/

Over the years, I bought a number of guns and accessories there, plus they carried a tremendous stock of parts for hundreds of different firearms. I used to buy hard-to-find Colt factory parts for my Colt Single Action percussion pistols there. Whatever I needed, Rettings had them. They had a great selection of new and used firearms, plus some very collectable guns.

"Gone beaver,"as they say. Not many gun stores left in the Los Angeles area, anymore. The way of things in Liberalville.

The city council will let a cannabis dispensary open up there, just to drive the point home.

They must have zero gun violence then right?

They're just following the lead led by San Francisco. The last remaining gun shop in SF shut down about a year or so ago. I ken the dad before they retired and I have a few guns the customized. Their specialty was 1911s. Back in the day they were in competition with Pachmeyr for the custom target 1911 market. They gave Pachmeyr a hard run for their money. The owner that built mine was the dad before he retired, the late F. Bob Chow. A genious with 1911s.

Our forefathers did not politely protest the British. They did not vote them out of office, nor did they impeach the king, march on the capitol or ask permission for their rights. ----------------They just shot them.

Retting was only a few miles away from my house when I lived in LA in the 80s. It was great fun to spend an hour and fondle the hundreds of used guns on the floor racks. I still have the 1954 Savage 99 EG chambered in 6mm-.22-.250 that I purchased there.

Thanks for posting. Brought back some memories not often thought about.

I remember when I pulled into my old LGS and it was an insurance agency. So I drove to the other one in town and it was a hair salon. Bad day.

A store where I gunsmithed for ten years turned into an "adult video" store. This was sort of appropriate since the co-owner of the gun store had been described as being obsessed with pu ssy. One store I frequented as a young man (Lolo Sporting goods in Lewiston, Idaho) was still open, last time I looked, but wasn't quite the same. Things change in 60 years or so. GD
