I will intentionally keep this post “generic”, as specifics would probably be “career suicide”, but as a gun store counter person, at a busy shop, outside of a MAJOR city…… there’s nothing more amusing (to me anyway), than selling a firearm to “Moisha Abromowitz”, and behind him in line is “Mohomud Alahsharrif”. Names made up to protect the ignorant.

Neither know ANYTHING about firearms, and they want me to educate them in 15min, about…. Use, cleaning, local laws, etc., etc. My new line is: “when you go to buy a car at a car dealer, do they help you get your drivers license, teach you how to drive, and teach you how to do a tune up?”. The answer is always: “of course not”. Most of them are too slow to get my analogy.

To add, I derive NO joy in hearing Muslims, Jews or Catholics are killing each other, they’ve been doing it for 1000s of years. When someone says to me: “the world is going to end”, my response is: “the world will be fine, the human race however”. Maybe we deserve it.

My paternal grandparents were the children of Ukrainian Jews who had escaped to America prior to the turn of the century, became American citizens, raised new Americans, assimilated reform Jews pretty much. None of their families came out the other end of the Holocaust, those were the survivors of Stalin's kulakization, right? But nobody, nobody was left in Europe after War Two. All gone, the only remnants in scrapbooks, tiny photographs mailed to America.
I understand that six million Jews isn't nearly as impressive as Stalin's kills, but had I survived either, I'd be sort of prickly. Sort of desirous of a place where I could control my own destiny from then on. America didn't exactly beckon, either.
