May build "Papa Bear" as a Cheslight ...from these guys... https://www.baysidejoinery.com/VERY ROUGH PRELIMINARY... Just thinking outloud... "Papa Bear" will be a dedicated carpentry shop with a small guest studio above...

Had Laura work a sketch to visualize some of the elements I will be putting together... And a basic shop drawing for material take-offs and fabrication details...

Nice shop drawings. Did you sneeze? LOL Always hated that, spend hours working on a set of detailed shops with a good old-fashioned # 2-1/2 pencil and a scale, then one of the bastards sneaks up on ya'.

Nice shop drawings. Did you sneeze? LOL Tater chips probably... It is only a working (fabrication) sketch. We won't actually be doing plans... don't need them. No permits required... No bank loan... Just a building being built by men on fair exchange Capitalism. We ain't much on kissing the Emperor's ring round here.

Have you got enough height figured in the lower shop to put in a decent dust collector system? Looking good.

We called our great grampa Papa Bear.
…on the inlaw’s side
He was kind of an ass hole But I ended up with many of his snap on, proto and sk tools.

Osky 6x19+/- Timber joists (primary) and 6x12 (secondary)... leaves me 9'-2" clear (bottom chord of the joist) and 10'-6" to the underside of the floor (12/4 T&G White Pine (probably)). Not sure if I will do dust collection... probably not. Big French doors 3 O'clock and 9 O'clock and a leaf blower kinda thing. If I set the columns on piers or Sono tubes... it be easy enough to raise the height 8"-12".

Placed the order ($12,500) an hour ago for 14k+ BF of lumber to build Papa Bear. Unreal how low the Pro Desk at HD got bulk prices for me... $0.43 BF on 2 x 8 x 16s SYP??? Fugg, that is unreal CHEAP... Laura's XLS cut and paste... *$12.5k was for others hacks as well... not just the dimensional lumber. *Oops... Couple of blanked out quantities... call it 16k BF

That is cheap!!! Hope your HD actually supplies decent, straight boards! Ones around here sell alot ot absolute garbage and I try to avoid having them pick the boards, rather take the time to do it myself, but understand that would be quite impractical in your case.

Looks like a great project. Too many corners, though. Every time I lose something, it always turns up in a "corner" somewhere.

Well we're Green and we're Gold, and we play better when it's cold. All us Cheese heads have our favorite superstar. We love Brett Favre.

10' clear to the bottom of joists... 11'7" to the ceiling... 11'+ ceiling 2nd floor... Mechanically distressing the SYP...
