Yep, that was a giant fail, but McCarthy's decisions are not always top shelf.
Even a fool like me knows that if you keep pressuring Goff, he folds like an ironing board.
The prevent defense sacrificed the pass rush and Goff had clean pockets to make those final throws.

ESPN just showed the replay on the post game show.
BOTH Lions players REPORTED to the REF. 😬

On the 2 point conversion, the guy that called the play and the lineman that eventually caught the pass are both supposed to know that the lineman needs to report as an eligible receiver.
They both failed.

In the NFL, the numbers 50-79, and 90-99 are deemed ineligible numbers. However, the NFL permits someone wearing these numbers to "report as eligible" to the referee before they line up. Once they do so, and the referee has announced to everyone that "X" is eligible, that player must still line up in one of the eligible positions listed in point one (behind the LOS, or as an END on the LOS). If they were to line up as an "interior lineman," they would no longer be eligible.

Go watch the tape again and tell me that Decker didn’t report. The ref chose then to fulfill his promise to Jerruh to win them a football game

If that's true, it will come out.

It does appear 68 reported has eligible, and also lined up has a receiver………

Non-reviewable play of course,

And I don’t believe the games are fixed,

I do believe the refs are human and make many mistakes,

Ay what point do refs become accountable?

New Union agreement, Refs wear body cams with audio………….

All the rules experts posting about the negated 2 point conversion robbing the Lions of a win realize there were flags thrown for two penalties, right?

We noticed there were two flags thrown on that same play. Was there another penalty called on that play as well?

β€œYes. Because No. 70 reported as eligible and he was covered up on the line of scrimmage, that makes it an illegal formation. So, No. 70 is in an illegal position because he is covered up by rule, and No. 68 catches the pass, which is also illegal.”

And I believe that is what Aikman was saying last night also.

Interesting.

That was sure to be a close game and points would be at a premium.
I can appreciate the aggressive nature and confidence of Dan Campbell, it's a game of aggression. But it's also a game of intelligence.

The major blunder IMO, was the Lions not kicking a FG when it was 7-3, opting to go on 4th and 5.
Reckon those points would have come in handy at the end. whistle
