Appreciate the kind words guys.
I've been blessed and have had a good run.
Plan to keep on as long as I can.
With that in mind I believe in giving credit where credit is due
So this will be the condensed version (as best as I recall).
When I first started posting on 24hrcampfire, Flat Land Texicans that hunted over feeders from stands were pretty much held in low esteem and had limited credibility.
You've heard the saying, "Pix or it didn't happen. Well I had some pix, but very limited credibility.
As luck would have it three guys in particular came to my rescue.
ShortActionSmoker sold me an ARAIG 2013 Group Buy knife and along with it he included a "Western Hunter Starter Pack"
A McSwirley crayon, a 6mm., 87 Gr. Hornady A-Max, and blue tape for the end of a rifle barrel, plus instructions for each items particular use.
Luckily I stumbeled on the "243" and "243 Ackley" Threads.
You've heard the saying, "Pix or it didn't happen. Well I had some pix, but very limited credibility. So I started posting.
Soon Ricky Bob Menefee contacted me, said he would like to make me a knife. I was already collecting, but that pushed me over the edge.
After I acquired a couple of his knives, I mentioned to him that short, fat, bald Texans that hunted over bait got very little respect when they went out west.
He said he'd make me a knife that "throbbed" for attention.
Wasn't long befoe a Blue Vein Walrus Dick Boner showed up at my door.
Tell you how cool it was, huntsman22 now owns it, and I didn't even have to pay him to take it.
Yowsir!
And next, of all things a guy that took great photos who really made a Texas boy feel at home befriended me. He went by several Sobriquet's, Boxer/Busheler/Big Stick.
Perhaps, the holding of the ARAIG group buy Ingram captive here in Texas caught his attention
If it were not for B's gentle coaxing and encouragement, I'd probably not posted half of the pix that I did early on.
In fact, B was the inspiration for the Haybale and Crockett Chronicles, Tales from the Petting Zoo,
Golf Carts and Gates Edition!
The rest is history (as in I don't remember)
Anywho, posting here has and continues to be a very enjoyable source of entertainment.
Thanx Guys!
Best,
GWB
