"Keith was a registered Democrat until 2008, when he re-registered as an independent, telling the Chicago Tribune in 2016, "I was a Democrat my whole life."

This stuff really isn't difficult to find..lol all are excerpts from news articles that tool me 10 seconds to find.

The entertainment industry is historically left leaning. Not a big Jimmy Olsen scoop there.

So... in 2008, Toby wised up, left the demoRats behind, and became an Independent.

I say... Congratulations to him for wising up.. He wasn't the first, and there are thousands more still wising up every day. Watch some YouTube and you will get a feel for just how many.

And I personally do thank him much for his dedication to our peeps in the sandbox over the last 2 decades. I can't say I was a big Toby Keith fan, because I wasn't. Just not that into country. Nothing against Toby Keith.

So you say his music was simplistic. Ohhh-kaaay. Ever heard of a little band called Black Sabbath?

RIP, Toby Keith. A decent man gone too soon.

I'm just here pointing out facts. Mr gittr wanted evidence to back it up that Keith was a democrat and that I did. If facts make you mad, sorry.

Ps "Simplicitic" would be a complement for his music.

I'm not mad. Just having some respect for a fallen fellow Patriot.. even if it took him til 2008 to get there. Not unique, by any measure. Lots of others have come over, too. The more, the merrier. MAGA.

Morewood;
Good evening to you sir, I hope you all are having the winter you need and can live with down there and you're all well.

I too enjoyed his music over the years and also hopes he RIP.

When my good wife got home tonight, we were briefly chatting about the day and she'd heard a blurb on the radio news regarding how he'd made a lot of his wealth not only through singing but as a restauranteur, starting his own record label and real estate investments as well.

Not that money is everything for sure Morewood, but I also note he and his wife married in '85 and he fully adopted her daughter. They also had two kids together and if any of them are in the news very often I've missed it.

Anyways sir, being married to someone for nearly 40 years and having a hand at raising 3 seemingly productive replacements, well that's not nothing, as some BC rednecks such as myself might say.

All the best.

Dwayne

At this point, two things are abundantly clear.

1) TK was smart enough to recognize an unfilled niche, and was talented enough and had sense enough to fill it and make likely make some very good money off of it.
And
2) JH isn't smart enough to recognize a dry hole, thinks he has the talent to make something of it, and doesn't have the sense to know when to stop digging.

They landed late, started the show late - and then played an extra hour or more closer to two hours - "just because" they wanted to. We were running the flight to Baghdad for them, so holding the helos wasn't a problem.

I learned a couple things that night -

1. Regardless of the politics - both went above and beyond to ensure that they were there to break up what was a long tour with a personal connection to the troops.

2. We had no idea how may guitars were deployed with our soldiers - they sat and signed probably 120-150 instruments after the show - and didn't quit until the last one was done.

I got escort them out to the flight line and to the pad for lift-off, we were about 10 minutes late notifying the UH-60 crews, and VBC in Baghdad was having issues with indirect fires - so everything went into "on hold" phase at the pad.

Both entertainers were smoked - they'd just added another 4 hours or more onto the 20 they'd already been through, and still had to get into VBC for the night. We're standing at midnight-30 in 85 degree heat, battel rattle, and listening to thumps in Baghdad from the rockets.

Toby still made a point to walk to every solider on the pad and shake their hand and tell them that they were doing good and were great Americans. You could feel the fatigue coming off him in waves, but he never once acted like "THE GUY" that had pretty much just won every award possible in Nashville 2-3 weeks prior. It was a special night many, and very personal look at an entertainer that went further than he had to, when he didn't have to.

Ted Nugent did the same - he only wanted a bottle of water to refill his canteen before the flight, and made sure that he made the rounds as well. Both of them could have cut the visit much shorter and stayed closer to the schedule - but they didn't. They stayed there for the troops and made it work.

My picture of Toby will be standing there in the dim light our flashlights, hands in his pockets, that crushed cowboy hat on his head, rocking the OTV vest, and so tired he can only mumble by the time the aircraft arrived at the pad.

I don't think he cared much for meeting the brass - but he'd make every effort possible to ensure a young troop in any uniform had a chance to meet him, and to tell that troop that he supported them.

YMMV

AH64, same experience here. I saw a few singers come to Iraq, particularly the larger bases like Al-Asad. I appreciate them all. However, Toby Keith showed up one night at Camp Fallujah. Nobody comes to Fallujah. I didn't have time and honestly not that interested at the moment to go see him. If I remember correctly it was a small indoor meet and great or acoustics event because you were not having a concert here. Anyway, the next morning in the dark about 0530 I'm going to the dfac and I go in but hold the door open behind me for the next guy. Well [bleep] it's Toby Keith. By himself. I decided let the guy eat in peace. He said thanks Sir, I said no problem. He was behind me in line the whole time just never wanted to bother him for autographs or whatever.

Anyway whatever music you like, I respected him for that. God bless him and his family. Oh and [bleep] cancer!

All the best to you and your family as well, Dwayne. Did you know Toby Keith was instrumental in Taylor Swift's career?

Why am I not surprised....lol

Taylor Swift and her deranged cult is even worse than the low-brow Keith clan...and apparently we have him to blame!

I keep being MORE right......

Great human being. Great patriot. BUT he did not sing country music.
