I bought one in 243 win thinking it had a fast twist like the 6 creed. No data was published on the 243 win twist rate at the time of purchase….. so I rolled the dice hoping it was 1/8 . Rifle arrived … it’s 1/10 twist. I cleaned it, adjusted the trigger to its lightest setting, mounted a scope on it and headed to the range. All groups easily were under 1 moa no load development , just using previous loaded ammo for other 243. I sighted it in at 200 yards with 70 gr tnt’s and was able to keep 5 in .75”. Only thing I don’t like about this rifle is the lop.. 14.5”. It has a funky recoil pad and shortening the length will be a chore. I plan on gifting this to one of my grand kids when the time comes.

M, it sounds like you got a great rifle. The LGS guy I talk to frequently here, had one in 6mm creedmoor, and he has been bragging it up. The one he has is the Range model. I like the looks of that one much more than the Lux model. Never have liked the humpback models.

As for guys getting mad about CZ discontinuing the 527, the 600 looks like a nicer rifle to me. The only thing I don't like about the Range model is it has a right hand palm swell. From the sounds of it, they are tack drivers though. Offering a 3/4 MOA, for 5 shots, accuracy guarantee. I like old rifles too, but the steel mag hanging down on the 527 has always been a turn off to me. Especially on a hunting rifle.

I bought an Alpha in .308 when Europtic had a sale, just because I had a boatload of .308 reloads I had made up for my FAL, which I sold.

Paid $399 delivered with the CZ $100 rebate. Threw an MK3 3-9x40 on it and it shoots just under 1 MOA with a 150 NBT reload I worked up for my FAL. Trigger is very, very good stock is "ok" and it seems accurate enough to play around with. .

I've seen some 600 lux 223 rifles for sale for just a bit over $600 new. I wish they were 7 twist not 9 but I just heard there's no room to seat bullets out anyways. The sights are large and different but the one model in 308 I saw with the sights impressed me on how functional they were. Something about those open sights made them very visible for me and easy to align consistently.

I like a lot of the features of the 600 so I'm tempted to try a 600 lux 223. The 9 twist should stabilize 75g Hornady bthps at my elevation and those do a lot of what I'd use it for. I kind of want to try an alpha in 7.62x39mm as well. The 18" barrel on that with the larger 5/8-24 thread pattern seems like a good combo.

The 20" lux 30-06 is interesting too but I'm afraid I'd find it too heavy like I did my ruger 30-06 guide gun. I don't know if you could have a 600 in 30-06 rebored to 9.3x62 but I've been wanting a 20" or so 9.3x62 with open Sires for several years. I've had different plans at times but never have got one. Probably best to just find another win 70 stainless classic or similar and have it rebored and shortenec and then get sights put on.

While I have not yet handled a 600. My current perception is based on the mini action specifically. The short answer is the 527 had more caliber offerings. The 527 is a easy re-barrel if you wish for a less common chamber. Example the the 7.62 x39 or 6.5 Grendel is fairly straight forward re-barrel to 6mm ARC for instance. Seems The 527 223, 221 fireball or even the 300 blackout is another re-barrel to 20 Practical, 20 Tactical or 20 VarTarg.

Sorry, I am rather negative in the 600. Options for re-barreling the 600 was initially a selling point at intro. Year later the Re-barrel option has been omitted. Big deal from my perspective.


From my perspective the 600 trigger will be clearly be a step backwards from the 527 set trigger.

The stock options for this old school guy again favors the 527.

Perhaps the 600 will thrive going forward I am just not seeing it.

If I was not Comparing the 600 to the 527 I still see the 600 as a rather ho-hum offering. If you like a 600 offering, more power to you.

Deeply regret selling off a 557, and then not buying the next one I saw at my LGS. Due to my love for CZ I just had to get a 600 Alpha when they dropped to $399 after MIR (also from EuroOptic).

So far it has been a great rifle, I have nothing negative to say about it.

I have the laminate heavy barrel in 6 creedmore. Shoots into .75 as guaranteed. The only feature I don’t like is the cut out in the bottom of the stock where a bag should ride. Hate that but that’s on me because I never had one before and didn’t realize I would hate that. Edk

I'm still in the 452 American phase and doubt I'll change. Bought 3 when they first got available. Got "talked" out of 2 of them but the last ain't going anywhere till i do.

Agreed 100%. Thankful I bought my 527 Carbine .223 in 2019. Topped with a Jap Weaver fixed 6X in steel mounts, and in its Boyt canvas case, it's my classy do it all farm/truck gun.

CZ, bring back the 527 !

I guess I'm the odd man out on this one. I find the 600 interesting do not own one but I have fondled and contemplated several times.

I had a 527 chambered in 223. it was the black model with a heavier barrel I forget the exact designation on it.
never could get it to shoot acceptable for me.

and that single set trigger well I hate the darn things. they do what they're supposed to with the lock time is incredibly slow.

You aren't alone...I bought one and absolutely love it.



Pigs don't....

I handled one in .308 a few days ago. I couldn't get passed the aluminum receiver. I wish I had kept my 527 in .204 Ruger.
