California wants to tax (former) citizens in another state?
Did I get that wrong?

Destruction leads to a very rough road, but it also breeds creation

And earthquakes are to a girl's guitar, they're just another good vibration

And tidal waves couldn't save the world from Californication

Guess on my part, but I seriously doubt that will survive a court ruling.

IIRC, Rush fought New York for six years after he had moved the whole operation to Florida. Not defending Calif. in any way, just pointing out that it's a principle of Socialism. California DMV hounded and threatened me for years when I lived in Alaska.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Bezos recently moved to Florida.
Might get interesting.

Larry Ellison’ (of Oracle) annual California tax bill was the size of the annual budget of their department of transportation according to Pelosi who visited with Ellison trying to persuade him not to leave California. He moved to Lanai.

Might get interesting.

Well, they just lost another 2A case, which they will appeal

Quote
As we informed you this morning, the State of California (or at least those of our leaders hungry for gun control) suffered a major blow in the case of Nguyen v. Bonta. In an emphatic ruling, Judge William Hayes issued a summary judgment striking down the law barring firearm purchases less than 30 days apart.

The so-called "one-a-month" law represents one of the most blatantly unconstitutional gun laws, which is really saying something in California. Think of any other fundamental right treated in such a manner.

Free speech? Sure, but no more than two tweets a week. Just another example of lawmakers treating the Second Amendment like a second class right.

We can be fairly certain that the state will appeal this ruling and that it will be stayed until that appeal is heard, but it's always good to acknowledge a well-reasoned ruling!

I never thought they would get away with charging athletes from teams out of state,
How these crazy rules are not overturned by the SCOTUS in the real question. Everyone knows the state of CA is a blood sucking leech, but how can an athlete who plays for the Texas Rangers, have to pay CA state tax on the games he played in CA, when his employer is the Texas Rangers based in Texas?

CA says that the games played in CA and wages paid on those days, are subject to CA state tax.

I have a feeling their thinking is the same as if an A/C repair place in TX sent a dude to Cali to fix a unit. The work was performed in Cali. His wages were earned there. Blah Blah Blah.

Fuggers tried to tax my income when I worked 8 months a year in WA and vacationed in Cali in the winter where my wife worked. We managed to get through to the Franchise Tax Board that they were wrong and weren't getting anything from me.

California’s Source Revenue taxation rules are pretty complicated especially for couples filing jointly.
