There are several theories as to why this is being allowed, even encouraged, by the current administration and its supporters. i.e. the left. Most are at least plausible.
They have determined that they gain political currency by virtue signaling, Biden's theatrical displays of emotion, portraying himself as the great Care Bear in Charge, the kindly grandpa.
