Rambler. I’d guess 66 or 67. I thought of the Plymouth Valiant, but those taillights say Rambler too. Where’d you find it at? I haven’t seen one in this area since the late’70s! Reon

Reon But the 1960s Ramblers didn't have that real wheel coverage, right? It was in the Lion Food parking lot in Falling Waters, WV. The guy in it appeared to be old enough to be the original owner.

Looked it up. The Rambler didn’t have a side gas cap! At this point, I’m gonna withhold a guess. It looks American, but I can’t off the top of my head say what make .

Amphicar 1960 german car/boat by the backend Can't be. Look at the tailpipe. Tailpipe that low would drown the vehicle out. Those amphibious cars had the exhaust taken upwards by a snorkel type thing.

Pay no attention to the hubcaps. They say aftermarket to me. In the 60s everybody had some kinda logo on the hubcaps. I can’t get past Rambler because of those taillights, but I looked up the American and they don’t have a side fill gas cap. Wish you had gotten the front end. ID by grill and headlights and such is way easier. I don’t like to admit it, but this one has me a little stumped. It was always a bragging point about IDing cars at a glance!😀 When your Old Man had a junkyard, it was part of your job description! Reon

My first thought was Studebaker. But after looking at the tail lights and side gas fill I don't think it is. I don't think it's Rambler or Plymouth either.
Might not be American made.

customized Plymouth Valiant... Poorly Executed... I can buy that. But if the guy who owns it, and drives it, likes it, who am I to criticize? I kept my Monte Carlo as close to stock appearance as I could, even went to the trouble of hunting up and restoring the Chevy Rally Wheels, which I liked. “Why wouldn’t you put Cragars on it”?😀 “Because I like these wheels more”! Gotta admit, I love those old steel rims painted to match the body and topped with Baby Moons. Old school class!😀

The front fenders have me thinking its a Valiant also....
But my money is on, that it got rear ended, and it is some home auto body concoction.

Thinking same. Or could be a Canadian version of something. They were sometimes close but different. Wanted to say Australian, but steering is on the correct side for this one.
Those wheel well fillers were called fender skirts. Sometimes a factory option or aftermarket. Popular in the day.
The fins on the back? Started about 57 & ended with most American cars after 1960.

You are right, forgot about them being crossways, have a golf cart and front is mounted crossways and believe rear is straight. Trailers still have leaf springs. Can buy them at Agri Supply.

Noticed the shackles, skirts and the visor right away. Never saw a Valiant with skirts, and I knew the visor didn’t belong there. Those Cordobas and Dodge Chargers based on that body had leaf springs. My family had probably 6 or 7 of those things in the late 80s and early 90s! At the auction you could usually snag one for 3 or 400 bucks, and they weren’t bad to drive or work on. Dad was always a Ford man, but he sure wasn’t gonna throw stones at something good and cheap! I’m pretty sure the Volarey & Aspen models did as well.. Chrysler always had leafs in the back and torsion bars up front! My BIL had an Aspen, and I thought it pretty nice. He was talking about building a 340 to swap out the 318. It does look a helluva lot like a Rambler American, which weren’t bad cars. With a 390, known as the SC/Rambler, which is both rare and beautiful in my eyes. But you had to be careful with AMC stuff. They bought parts from all 3 auto makers and to wrench one one, you never knew what you had for sure until you got it taken down. I saw a lot of Buick and Ford engines in the same AMC bodies! This one ain’t something I would want, but as I said, if he likes it, I’m not one to criticize anybody else’s ride. Reon

Check out the right rear….leaf springs. Been few years since I have seen them on a car. When did they stop using leaf springs? The traditional style you're referencing, about the same time they all went away from cars that were Body-on-Frame and everything became FWD w/trans-axels.

Yes, but,. If you remember, Chrysler started using the Uni-body in the early 60s. Subframe up front which supported the engine and transmission, from there back no frame. They were pretty much all rear leaf springs In back and torsion bars up front. Chevy used the same design on the Nova/ Chevy II and Camaro. Ford, I’m not certain what models used it, other than Falcon and Maverick, ( I’m pretty sure Mavericks had rear coil springs) I but i know all 3 did in the late 60s early 70s, until they started making front wheel drive cars in the 1980s. Matter of fact, I have seen quite a few early/mid 50s Chevy pickups that were modified to this set up. By doing this the builder can make something with a smallblock engine with power steering and brakes, and still have the classic body look. From the folks I have talked to, it’s a fairly easy conversion. Reon

Still needs a set of fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror, and a set of curb feelers!😀 Wonder what sorta power he’s packing. Probably the old indestructible slant six. My buddy had a ‘72 Charger with a slant six, and a 360 ready to drop in. He ran that thing hundreds of miles with no oil in it! The only way to hurt them was to run them hot. Otherwise they just kept going!😀 I can only remember selling one used slant six engine in all that time! We had 6 or 7 of those Cordoba/Charger from the late 70s between Me, The Old Man, and my brothers. Like I said, they sold cheap and the run good. Most were 360s, but the were a couple with the 400 motor, which would scoot! I even had a 76 Road Runner with that body.

... 1962 Rambler: My dad had this car in black. IIRC flat head six cylinder. Three on the tree. Ugly as home made sin. Built like a tank. Could drive to work and around town for three weeks on a single tank of gas.

I have a 1960 Rambler American 2 door station wagon sitting out behind the barn, waiting for its turn in the shop- - - -200 cubic inch flathead six, three speed with overdrive, built like a tank, and got 30 MPG on regular gas when I parked it with steering problems. I'm going to modernize the front suspension with some type of McPherson strut system and power rack & pinion steering. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/564357397047280643/

1962 Rambler: djacent two, maybe? three shades of blue on the side of this car, door doesn't match the fender or the 1/4... only way to fix it now is to reshoot the door & blend into the adjacent panels... see this same schit on a lot of high $$$ cars on the TV auctions... freakin' Amateurs...
