Bet they are free, because the best ones are free. Even better than stolen ones from the orchard up the hill.

Best ones ever were from my "uncle's" place near Escondido. I was a starving student and stopped by his place on the way back up to school one Christmas vacation. He said as I was leaving "I have something out in the garage for you" and presented me with a lug of them. I wasn't a fan of avos, could take or leave them. I learned to love them as I certainly couldn't afford them on my limited food budget at the time.

I was speaking in generalities from personal SoMexiCali experience but your example proves my statement.

Home grown aguacates are tree ripened and not gassed like the commercial ones you get at the store thus eaten as nature intended.

Free is always nice.

I'll take a pass on avacados, brocolli and brussel sprouts, not fond of any of them.

Avocados, Mangoes and Mulberry trees grow wild south of the tropical line in FL, had the trees in our yard. Hayden is the best mango, Avacado is best with cider vinegar in a bowl, Mullberry goes great with anything but a white vehicle. :-)
Grew up in the glades on the big lake, was a fishing guide on the lake at 9. Watched for rods and reels with plastic bobbers. Alway tourists, had no idea about fishing on the lake. Boy, you get any bites today? I would pull up my 4' fish stringer. Made $20 right then.

I have 5 avacado trees in my back yard. They are good when you pick them off your own tree. The only problem is the critters seem to get a lot more of them than I do.

You can take an avocado that has been cut open and put what you don't eat inside a jar submerged in water and it will keep for a few weeks without turning black.

Yep, I was correct. In over 41 years we have not purchased or brought into our house an avacado.

We have both tasted guacamole a couple times when out and about. We would both rather leave it than take it.

I know avacodo seeds will grow into cute house plants if suspended in a cup of water in the window behind the kitchen sink. Mom did that once.

The Mexicans can just keep all their avacados.

Neighbor woman last week brought me over a big pot of Menudo, then a couple days later beef stew. After eating off both of those for a few days, I added to the leftovers some pinto beans and rice. Having it cooking with a beef roast tonight.

No coconut trees. I've met Flave's son. Good kid. And yes, he's fully capable.

Funny you mentioned Coconut. That's the handle I hung on him. Lol.

After watching the kid climb to get one for flave's pina colada (or whatever it was) Coconut seems like an appropriate nickname.

I hope the kid is successful in his chosen work.
