Coral???
Sponge??
Some type of strange limestone chert nodule.
Anyone able to ID this material??????

Pretty cool hand / palm knife knocked off a core???
Almost like a chunk of meat in mouth and cut off extra type of thing eating utensil.
Dunno....

Never found anything like this or anything made out of material like this.

Interesting. The one side doesn't look too out of the ordinary but the other side is a head scratcher.

I also like the TV/VCR combo, artifact. smile

Renegade50:

Google up "Teredo wood." It's a worm/clam-eaten petrified wood found in several forms.

Along our coast, one can find chunks of modern wood similarly consumed today.

Lots of neat stuff showing up recently. Keep it up troops.

Our chert and limestone comes mostly from a 300ft thick layer of Ordovician limestone. Shallow warm seas.

That is a common rock pattern here, I want to lean toward oolitic limestone. Another guess fossiliferous limestone, duh. But anyway
We do have and I have found a few tools and a point made with the hulls of Lithostrotion coral bedded within.

Lotta walking rows 6 to 7 over each time on Labrador Hill today.
150 yd ish rows
Probably 3.5 - 4 miles
Around 2.5 - 3 hours.
Been sending slumlord pics all morning.
Actually walked this ground behind someone else that was out here 4 or 5 days ago.
WillyG was already out here starting when I rolled up that day.
Told him you can have the place man cause you got here 1st.

WillyG don't walk rows.
He just wanders around in no set search grid or pattern.
He is kinda like a pigeon going after French fries in the McDonald's parking lot...
Ain't the 1st time nor will it be the last time me or slumlord have walked a field behind willyG and found stuff...
🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🥴🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Just got back to the truck.

Lol!!!
About 6 or 7 yrs ago.
Me and slumlord rolled up on willyG and sharkey( fuuked up.teef)
We was just gonna go talk to em real quick and boogey on out to another spot.
20 25 ft walking to em .
Slumlord bends down real fast , grabs spmething off the ground and flashes me a 5 or 6 inch long grade 9 10ish Benton blade.

Their must have been at least 15 of their footprints within 3 to 5 ft of it.
Like they was standing their talking to each other moments before we got their.

Hey dudes we gonna roll someplace else.
Good luck guys.

Ordovician. That’s some old azz schidt! All our chert around here is Cretacious. But that makes sense where you are. In the middial of all that old azz stuff.

I will rephrase a bit. Some of it comes out of Eocene alluvium. So it could be lots older stuff.

Sometimes you’ll encounter a rock wall and it will have an innumerable amount of grapefruit sized chert nodules. Supposing over eons those nods eroded and liberated themselves, got transported via water and gravity.

All for the pickings of NA stone crafters

Heavy storms last night.
Clinging mud walking this morning from 830 to 1130
About 4 miles...

Beaver lake hill is done for the year AFAIC
Was hoping to find alot more with the amount of hard wash rain the place got.

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

Hit Pitbull Hill in the morning and maybe the rental house field
Wrap up those 2 for the year also.

Then got Labrador Hill
Corner field
Isolated ridge field
Tripod stand Hill
Plateau shots fired spot

Probably be done for the year by Sunday.

Then hit em all again in Feb 2025 after the rains after fall 2024 harvest

Finally a point worthy of putting on Rico dog's gravestone to Match his dad Blackjacks and his uncle Cookies points.
All 3 gravestone points from Pitbull hill.
Rico has had a decent adena blade on his from pitbull hill right now.
Been kinda a mission for me to find something really nice the past 2 springs for his headstone.

Blackjack and Cookie have heavy duty stemmed points on theirs.
This is either a Benton blade or a Elk River.
Have to ID on projectile points.com when I get home

Got out here at 730 this morning just got back to the truck.
Walked about 3miles of rows 3.5 hours.
Took my time to close up pitbull hill for the year.
