All said, the Savage 99 is a genius of a rifle. Although no longer produced, it remains highly revered, as it was the foundation from which Arthur Savage built one of America's great gun companies. >> (Jon Y. Wolfe) <<

tbear99, do you have any data that shows that it would be worth while??? Sounds like a great idea. I have read that it has been done but I can not remember from who!!!

Thanks, Mike...

How you gonna get a 27 cal ball to accurately come out of a 30 cal. tube?

well from my reading you rebarrel for 270 and i'm planning on contacting hart barrels about an hour away to make a barrel and to install. The part i'm not sure is i want it to look like a natural everyday 99 so i have to talk to them but i believe they will do it.I have to acquire another 300 the 2 i have one was grandpa's and the other just shoots soo damn good i couldn't think of the conversion on it.I should post pics of them so you guys can tell me what mod's they are

Come on guys, cut him some slack. It's a valid inquiry.

Don't know of any campfire member that's actually owned or done one. It didn't generate a lot of interest.

I'd just look for a .284 if ya want a 7mm Savage.

I have a 300EG rat & from time to time I think about making it into a 270 Savage , that's as far as it gets , thinking about it.
I probably will never do it.

lightfoot i have always thought the 7-30 waters was the perfect 99 chamber the 284-300 would be interesting as well.
thanks chris

tbear, put any thought into getting a 300 Savage takedown? Then putting money into a 270 Savage barrel won't affect the original rifle. And with the way prices are climbing the original rifle will probably increase in value in 5 years enough to cover the barrel price. grin
